i'm only thinking, while nvidia have launched a lot of gpu over the 3 year span, they have a lot of time to change the design, but they kinda lazy and stick to the same design again

If it aint broke don't fix it

 

The only reason to make a new reference cooler is the old ones weren't performing well enough

I was perfectly happy with the old design... i mean it makes sense to get a new one with this new generation, especially seeing as though its a big thing for both teams, but still..

Haha, reading these comments... I'm telling you all, I'm 90% sure it's fake. Nvidia would never CNC mill their cooler shrouds, costs would skyrocket for a reference card.

 

That and they aren't going to call it a 1080 or 1070.

They could CNC mill the shrouds for expo cards, since those are a VERY limited run that would probably never see daylight past shows and whatnot. But yeah, going back on my commend about nomenclature, these seem fake

I like it. Hopefully its more than an aesthetic upgrade, with cooling efficiency and quietness being a major upgrade too

People wanted a new reference cooler? I liked the old (or I guess right now, current) reference cooler.

 

I'm sure the new one will be awesome as well though. I guess it's important that when I purchase Pascal people can see I don't have a 980ti like the plebs.

That's not a matte finish. It's the bare metal. ;) Finished products will probably be painted silver or black to coincide with the typical Geforce GTX colours. 

 

Not sure if these are real or not, take that with a very large grain. I hope they are real though. It looks bad-ass and it's about time Nvidia changed/updated their reference cooler design. :P

The current reference cooler looks nice, but it's been around a while and is starting to look old, IMO.

24GB of vram, RGB lighting, will make you better at CSGO/LOL/DOTA 2 - way to cater towards today's gaming community

i'm curious about the new pricing :D the "old" cards should decrease and the "new" ones could take their pricing

thinking about getting rid of my 980ti for a nice price before the new cards release and get a new one with almost doubled shaders etc and 2gig more vram
