Hydra PC cases and Desk Cases Crowdfunding

The defcon one looks cool with the gpu's on the side, but will it include the pcie risers, and has it had a prototype made to test thermals because an aftermatket gpu cooler needs good airflow through the case to work correctly, and it seems that the gpus are pressed up right against the glass.

Also how are they gonna do SLI with 2 vertical GPUs?

I like it! But I am not fancy with my PC building so I won't need a desk like that (would like one but it would be sitting half empty lol).

Those cases tho :3

Yeah, I see what you mean, more of a case guy myself :)

They would have to have a custom SLI cable unless the next Nvidia gpus are moving to connecting the two over the pcie bus like amd does.

Pascal won't do that since it will use NVLink

Yeah then they must have a custom cable, or have the second gpu for just showing off, but even a custom cable might have issues due to signal loss over the length needed to connect the gpus like with pcie risers.

We'll include one EMI and EMC shielded PCI-E 3.0 x16 40 cm riser cable with the case. And yup, we already did test thermals durign prototyping (we'll post more pics of the prototypes later on ) and they worked great! (there are cut-outs in the plexi panel :)

Not signal loss with the ones we use - they are rather expensive, but worth every penny in quality :)

Okay, there's a difference between dropping a logitech or Dell keyboard on a steel case vs. dropping the equivalent of a mortar brick.

Lol, right - you'd need a safe, not a desk to resist that.

eh, it was a plastic keyboard, may have been one of the heaviest plastic keyboards in existance tho xD

but well.. it's kinda on par with the modern enthousiast grade keyboards in terms of weight. (mind you, they didnt use PCBs back then, it was all those plastic film circuits)

90s cherries had aluminum frames even if the surfaces were plastic. That's like a 4 pound keyboard.

its a budget one, in fact, its the cheapest keyboard cherry has ever produced themselves afaik.

just plastic top, plastic bottom, semi-mechanical switches strapped to a keyboard controller, out with a cable.

There are 2 of them in there :) the Crystal and the Defcon One - they are both mATX and especially the Defcon One is pretty compact for what it holds :)

Price are on the crowdfunding campaign, but here is a short recap:

Defcon One, painted, with the riser cable, SLI bridge, 16mm power button and USBs - 205 euros
Defcon One, painted, no riser cable SLI bridge, 16mm power button and USBs  - 180 euros
Defcon One, unpaited, SLI and USBs only 150 euros.

Made of aluminum and panels of 3mm plexiglass.

Crystal is more expensive since it also uses tempered glass panels and has a 3mm thick strcture.

280 unpainted and 340 painted, with button and USBs. :)

The tiny one, crystal? Not that many nice looking small cases; you either have a cube or a skinny tower think. You don't normally see cases that size with a panel that is all glass.

Yeah, the crystal is fairly compact (being just 300 and a bit mm in the front side) but very high quality - we aimed at a premium item :)
