10. Fucking hated 8.1 for being a pos. You can turn off what microsoft sees, and even then you arent really doing much that you should be worried about lol

7 > 10 > 8.1 > 8

Upgrade to 10 while it is free. If you don't like it you can always rollback to 8.1 (but you will always be able to load 10 in the future). That said, everyone I know who went from 8.1 to 10 hasn't gone back because of how much better 10 is. As for the "spying" it isn't nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be originally, and if you are really concerned there are many articles and tools that tell you how to disable those "features".

Telemetry data collecting is not spying. The only "spying", is if you use anything that uses Bing. So, Start menu searches and Cortana, basically.

Yeah, pretty much. It should be noted that you can either turn it off, or tell Cortana to search using Google.

What should i do i have no backup of my files!

If you just ran the upgrade your files should not have moved or been disposed of. It's only if you did a clean install with a drive reformat that your files would necessarily have gone anywhere.

Always keep important files backed up, even when you aren't doing a system upgrade. But especially when you are. :)

I definitely did an upgrade and not a clean install, i know that a clean install erases everything. The only reason why i cant backup my files is because my backup drive iss still being shipped through Amazon UK, I went back to 8.1 and everything was there. There was a message saying something about that i was signed into a temporary account when there was no other account in the log in screen.
