Would it not be better to upscale all video's to 4K for YouTube?

LokiFire

Even if it is 720P or 1080P?

4K allows higher bit rates, resolution is merely a container and the bit rate is what fills it, so if i record 1080P game play i should render it out in 4K in an editor?

TotalBiscuit apparently has gotten some improvements doing that, but you might want to mention to your viewers that the video is not at true 4K.

I believe that LTT did a video on this a while back so for a full answer, I would refer to their video

If I have solved your issue, please mark the thread as solved! Thanks!

@LokiFire

TotalBiscuit has a video about the Youtube video quality problems, and then demonstrates it.

Yeah man why not 8K?

Oh wait data caps, shit speeds and slow computers still exist

I can't even watch 4K video... my PC can handle 1440P just fine though, people select based on their hardware and internet.

People can still stream in a lower quality.

Do you mean content creators doing so, or the Youtube client doing so?

Yes but it would be nice for YT to do it for us, would save us some rendering power.

YouTube needs a better compression algorithm. It's getting worse with games becoming more complex.

It would be, but imagine the infrastructure they would have to invest in to provide that.

As much as it might improve IQ and aliasing, I'm not convinced it's worth doing so.

for how youtube handles resolution it MIGHT work, but for more "profesional" usage, I wouldnt take the gamble.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.
