only 8GB and 950 will be better and maybe take for the first attempt the stock cooler. But overall, solid :)

A PS4 and a XBOX for 400$ min. at release. OK. The PS4 has a 1.6 GHz APU. The XBOX One has a 1.75 GHz processor, but it's 8-core. This one? 3.7 GHz. Obviously better. The PS4 and XBOX One's GPU is a AMD Radeon 7000. Let's compare it to the 750 Ti, wait, THE 750 TI IS 10156% BETTER THAN THE RADEON 7000! LOL CONSOLES

I mean, well done fitting 16 GB of RAM into a $400 budget, but why? As far as gaming is concerned - which really is all a 'console killer' is built to do - you'll never see more than 8 gigabytes of RAM being used.

Furthermore, the height dimensions between the case's motherboard tray and side panel aren't provided, and it's possible that the Hyper 212 EVO you picked doesn't even fit. Also, instead of spending $100 on an Athlon x4 860k and an aftermarket cooler, you'd be better off with the Pentium G3258, as it comes with a better stock cooler than most Intel CPUS, for about $30 less. And you'd be MUCH better off with an i3 for the same price.

Lastly, I've never even heard of Apex as a manufacturer, and going with their OEM PSU can't be anything but a bad idea.

All in all, if you want to 'kill your console', do it like this-

But it's still a console killer. Not to mention the GPU used here is more than 100 times better than the XBOX and PS4 GPU. And the GPU is the most important part. Oohh consoles. Also the Titan X is only 248% better than the 750 Ti. Radeon 7000? Probably millions % or stuff.

That's a weaker one. My CPU is equivalent to a i3 or a i5. And with water cooling you can almost get to 5 GHz, at 4.87 GHz, which is stronger than the FX-9590, the strongest in clock speed CPU of AMD and Intel.

Pretty sure the pentium will do bad or plain won't run some games, I mean look at Fry Cry 4.

You are badly misinformed… your CPU is equal to the g3258 and when you over clock the pentium you can beat the 860k easily. 2 stronger cores is better than 4 shit ones. The 380 will literally smash the 750 ti no matter what way you put it. Also that case and PSU are probably the biggest POS I have ever seen, if you want to live get a different PSU.

Not all GHz are created equal, and the AMD Athlon x4 860K is on the same level as the Pentium G3258, and is nowhere close to the FX 9590, which has twice as many cores.

Also, an i3 is way ahead of the Athlon x4 860k, and with the i5? There isn't any competition. Even a first-gen i5 (which is considerably weaker than a Haswell/Skylake i5) will beat the Athlon in terms of performance, even when overclocked.

Furthermore- Where's this water cooler you speak of? Even though it won't turn a weak CPU into a strong one, it still won't fit in your $400 budget.

90% of the time, games are GPU-bound. The R9 380 will blow the GTX 750 Ti out of the water, and you can quote me on that.

And lastly, you forewent a decent power supply and risked not just it wrecking your computer, but starting a fire that could burn down your house. There's no way I can emphasize this enough-

Do NOT underspend on a power supply.

Far Cry 4 isn't inherently incompatible with dual-core CPUs, and since it never surpasses 50% usage on my i3, I'm fairly sure it'll have no problem running on the G3258. There's a simple fix that allows it to do so, and I daresay it runs pretty well.

And the G3258 is on the LGA1150 platform, which has a vastly superior upgrade path. The Athlon x4 860k is the best CPU on the FM2+ socket (before anyone goes there, all the APUs have this CPU). There isn't any upgrading form the Athlon without swapping out the platform.

You have a perfect price with a fire hazard. Do I really need to tell you how illogical that is?

Personally I wouldn't even consider using a power supply that came with a case. 16gb of ram and the hyper 212 evo are unnecessary if the purpose is running games.

This is significantly better:

Yeah but that's only if he can afford to upgrade in the first place, many other games don't work well the G3258 as well. In GTA V the athlon wins over the G3258.

I'll see who's better at Cities Skylines. I'm thinking of the athlon.... let me do the comparisons, and here's the result: Pentium wins. And i'm also considering the G3258 for my next build, this is just a console killer i'm likely not building. But with the Pentium it had to be Intel which would be the same at around 500$.

how is this a console killer when a ps4 can be had for 300?

Also, no OS..so that would be 500. - 200 more than a ps4 - GG

Also, consoles have good exclusives, PC only has mmorpg, moba, shitty indie games,  and rts exclusives, the rest of the games comes from console ports, lol.

If it's supposed to be a console killer it's not just about performing better, it also has to be as easy to use. So no components that would need  tinkering with to get them to run the latest games. IMO you can't use the G2358 in the build.

Ya, a lot of games are prefing quad cores as a minimum.  GTA V, Farcry Primal, and others.  It's why game-debate is showing up to 36-40 percent better performance with the 860k.  The 860k also has a superior L2 cache.  A larger L2 cache is ideal for gaming.  The pentium isn't bad, but the 860k is just better in this situation.

Also, while the G3258 can play on Medium to High in Cities Skylines, the Athlon can play at High.

Ditch the cooler and RAM and get a better GPU. Any gaming machine could use more spending in the GPU than the RAM. RAM is an all or nothing property in games, so better not waste money on it.
