so my old amd hd6970 just died with my computer restarting by itself then nothing would appear on the screen however i noticed on my mouse (logitech g600) that the computer was loaded in to windows. quick replacement to my GTS450, which i got with the pc when i bought it, resulted in me now typing this. so after all this i had an idea, wouldn't it be fun to share your story with broken hardware to someone on the internet? i sure think it would.

AX860i PSU died. Killed my 2TB barracuda (which had 2TB of my youtube videos on it), my 500GB WD blue (which was just a backup drive), my Sabertooth P67 motherboard, favourite board of all time, and my i7 3770k which overclocked to 4.6GHz with 1.135v.

 

My 240GB Force GT SSD with all my important stuff survived

My delightful mother dropped my 780 Ti Onto a table since it was covered in vas and it died.

My Toshiba HDD died when i dropped it when i was trying to mount it to my new case... like FOR REAL.

Thank god I had a new SSD installed, otherwise this would've been a disaster. I RMA'd it and now im using it as a backup, but i still dont trust it completely.

My Supermicro X8DTT-F Motherboard was killed by the LOVELY shipping people @ USPS. The whole mobo has a nice subtle curve to it and both the graphics controller and the IPMI chip are unseated from their places..... Got a refund but now im stuck with a dead motherboard and 2 good xeons that have no home.... Now I need a cheap dual xeon lga 1366 mobo with hopefully no propietary stuff......

couldn't you just buy a new one and have it shipped by someone who isn't usps?

I got that mobo on a one time deal for around $100+shipping so im not paying 200-600$ for a new one.

that really sucks, if i were you i would try to find another mobo which might be used but works, you would just have to find "the good deal"

yeah it took me a couple months of looking to find this board for this cheap. Would love an EVGA SR-2 even if i did have to pay a couple hundred but those are incredibly hard to find and can easily go into the high $800-2000 range now

i was looking into getting one of those because i already got an x5690 in another build so i could then upgrade but they're just so damn expensive

yeah I found one on ebay but its $600 USD without shipping, handling, import taxes, or exchange rate to the CAD$

I had a CPU fan die, but that's literally the only thing that I've ever had die on me *knocks on desk*

 

I wasn't doing many CPU intensive tasks at that time, but I noticed my temps were getting a little high and I checked and the bearing had just stopped up on my Hyper 212+

Only thing that has ever died on me was an old AM2 motherboard. The capacitors on the power delivery circuit popped and stunk up my room for days. Luckily it didn't take out any other components along with it.

I killed a P4P800-SE by making it overclock a Prescott P4 to almost 4GHz. That P4 though still works perfect.

 

Then my P4V8X-X died from old age and a corrupted BIOS.

 

And my HD 6570 caught on fire.

 

My N68C-GS also caught on fire.

 

I think my WS440-BX finally bit the dust, but I might have just been retarded and not set it up (same with some old 939 ASUS board).

I had a Corsair H80i and after cleaning my PC I noticed the conections in the plug for the fans were lose, I pushed them back and tried it but noticed one of the fans wasn't spinning. I then ( while the PC was on) starting moving the wires in the plug and the fan was going on and off then suddenly I heard a pop and the pump died.    Luckily RMA'd it and got a H80i GT which is better!

i always wonder how relatively taken care of electronics can catch on fire ...( have seen the VRMS on a cheap 970 board with a 9590 , but how could that happen with a gpu ?)

I had to RMA my sapphire tri-x card THREE TIMES before i got a working unit !

And the one i got had a terrible thermal paste application.

 

I was starting to worry something else was the problem...

It was something to do with the power delivery on the card. Apparently it couldn't take stock settings.
