I've had a power supply blow up killing the motherboard.

I still have those parts lying around, including the Core i3 530 CPU which functionality is unknown. I don't have any spare LGA1156 mobo lying around to test it in.

What do you think are the odds it survived the PSU suicide?

All other components (GPU, RAM, HDD and stuff) survived and I transplanted them to my new build.

If that chip would still work, I'd get a new board for it and overclock the absolute crap out of it.

the chance of the chip surviving is pretty high considering everything else did. my teacher had a shortage in his motherboard which was the host of two very lovely 6 core xeons and 64gb of registerd ecc ram. everything except the mobo died and he was able to sell of those parts.

I killed my Asus z97-a motherboard by somehow managing to scratch it near the audio traces. I tried to RMA it before I noticed the scratches, and Asus was kind enough to offer to fix it for 120$,  so now I've got a broken mobo lol.  Thankfully I got an amazing deal on a new evga z97 classified, so all is well.

I used an Asus P5KPL-AM mobo with a Q8300 Core 2 Quad proc since 2009, that thing went until 2015, working as a 24/7 download machine with generic RAM dimms (Markvision, heard of 'em?) and generic PSUs.

Now it sits on my wall, dead.

I also killed a MSI A88XM-E45, not me in fact, my cat.

I was working on my main AMD A10 PC (at the time, for now on it's Xeon, buddy) and the cat decided it was a good idea to jump inside the case while i was out, resulted in a static failure in the mobo, i was abble to save all the rest of the components.

My PSU before mine, a really old Thermaltake Gold rated PSU, died a week after I got rid of it. I replaced it with my nice, new 650w G2 from EVGA, then gave it to my friend so he could use it. A week later his PC wouldn't turn on. Luckily, all of his components were fine, the PSU just wouldn't function.

I had a cheapo power supply in a Gateway prebuilt die on me. The PC didn't even turn on more than half the time and at the time I had an HD 7770 which over time i think the power supply killed. If the framerate in GTA IV got to smooth (near the beach) it would crash my PC. Luckily my friend had a BFG 450w power supply lying around but he had cut the 24 pin off so we cut the 24 pin from the dead cheapo power supply and sat there with a multi-meter for a couple hours twisting wires together. The BFG power supply, at one time, powered my dual xeon machine :D:D, but now powers the spare machine in my closet (yes it still works to this day) and the cheapo power supply is 1 of 2 power supplies powering 12 inch car subs in my bedroom. The HD 7770 sits on a shelf and looks pretty. I did bake the 7770 and it worked for about 10 minutes but then died again.

I was booting up my pc and my psu shorted and started on fire killing all my hardware and melting a hole in the side of the case. Luckily I unplugged it and put it out before it did more damage

I have an Anet A8 as my project printer and a i3 MK3 for when I want things to work.

I extrude my own filament and haven't saved a penny yet.
