I don't know exactly how the engine is determining what image quality to use or whether it waits to drop below 90 fps or whether it's pre-empting etc... On 2/24/2016 at 4:07 AM, DXMember said: also how do you explain 680's Failing but 770's Passing? 680s are qualifying as 'capable' for most people. You can't look at one or two results where a 680 failed and draw conclusions. It could be any number of factors from drivers to firmware to something else in the system to a throttling GPU etc... But on average they are only losing slightly to the 770 due to lower clocks (especially on memory). 9 hours ago, Thony said: Does anyone know why the test runs in very small window ?! Mine was little less than 1/4 of 1080p.... I think it's internal rendering at the higher (VR) resolution and just showing this down-sampled thing in a window on-screen for demo purposes. When I forced it into 1080p fullscreen non-stereoscopic I got near 300fps (R9 290). The resolution of the Vive and Rift is 2160x1080. i.e. doesn't fit our monitors and it's 2:1 aspect ration
 When actually using the Vive or Rift each barrel will be shown to only one eye. Each has a slightly extended perspective to one side and combined the effective FOV will be ok when you wear the HMD. The display window is small, but the internal rendering resolution is much larger. The image is simply resized in the framebuffer.
 Posted February 27, 2016 One plus for valve here... At least they seem to be offering advice for VR in general and not just tailored to Vive users. Of course that was before the facebook acquisition and before the vive announcement. I think this has also been a good marketing thing for VR. They could have just released recommended specs... But they know that PC gamers love to benchmark. Releasing this tool has got lots of people talking on forums and posting their scores.
 Posted February 27, 2016 So my result was the same as everybody else's with a 970, no point in osting it. I did however (for shits and giggles) decide to see what happens if I force G Sync onto the app and throttle it back to 60FPS, bizarrely it actually made no difference to the result??? Probably because what it's displaying on-screen is not what matters. Inside your GPU it's running the simulation at the native resolution of the Vive / Rift with 2:1 aspect ratio and attempting to keep it above 90fps. On screen it's just showing you a down-scaled version running in a window for demo purposes.
 Mind putting in that -multigpu option in to see if it changes anything? Very little. It managed a 14044, with everything else being identical. I did notice while it was chugging along, that the video output in the window skipped a few times. But from what I've read online, the multi-GPU support is really finicky and quite lacking.
