Would you be willing to pay to not get YouTube Ads?

like not having ads in the begging of the videos you watch

There is ads at the beginning? ^^ [yay AdBlock :D]

adds never contribue with anything useful nor do they give you important news, nor are they impartial so you really can't trust them at all, there is no benefit of having adds, except for the content that is supposed by those adds.

I completely disagree, I am sure that you have a few products around your home that you see being advertised, that company has obviously seen some statistics that ads benefit their sales or else they wouldn't bother as it's just an extra overhead, so I think that we just have to accept ads are a part of supporting the companies that you purchase products from, and in the case of YouTube, the people supplying you the content you like.

Perhaps you would like to see a world with one company that made everything, with no competition, and upper limit prices? Personally I like things the way they are.

Aside from all of that ads can be intersting, creative and funny, fair enough there are plenty that I skip, but some companies have great ones, VW for example:

Maybe I'm wierd but there are loads of other great adverts around from lot's of different companies that I'd happily watch.

no i have never seen an ad that has actually informed of something i wanted id guesstimate about 98-99% of ads i see are just from crap that i don't care about at all, and i already told you there was no upsides besides the content they supported which you decided to balantly say again as if i was ignorant and never said anything about it, i was happy to see a reply, but it had to be about such a tiring and depressing topic :P

If you are using adblock, you can whitelist only you favourite youtuber's YT channel. You'd have to go to their channels to watch their videos and support them but you could still watch other videos ad free.

Also i would pay $10/year for complete Adfree + supporting.

Here in germany we have something called GEZ, which is a toll (18€), that every household has to pay monthly for all the state channels. I hardly ever watch any TV and would spend that money on cat videos rather than the state TV. What i wanna say is, that $10/year wouldn't hurt anybody. :D

who cares...

What? I think my point was pretty clear... without ads there would be no competition! We can all guess were that leads... They are an essential part of our marketing system.

You may think you don't need them, but trust me the majority of the world does...

I hate ads, always will.

So yes, yes I would if Addblocker wasn't available.

I would rather watch a 30 second ad than pay to avoid them. Ads in front of videos do not annoy me that much, it just means a little bit of extra time browsing the forums.

I've actually brought this up on Twitter before, but it's been shot down.

I would like to see a subscription to LTT where it's like GiantBomb's system. You pay monthly, you watch high definition videos of their products, reviews, and behind the scene footage, and you're directly supporting the group you wish to watch.

Who has actually bought something from a YouTube ad? Really, are that many suckers still alive?

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

Yeah because credit users are a far fetched demographic, although I would agree they are quite silly.

firstly saying without adds there no competition .. that's just plain wrong, also you do realise that the company that is selling the most and has the most money is the one that get's all the obvious adds right? secondly i never said adds weren't needed for anything, im saying i find no reason to actually WANT to watch the crappy things, it's pretty dammn obvious adds are needed, i just don't see a reason why i would actually WANT to watch them for the sake of actually watching it, over just putting up with it due to the other purposes adds have, and i said that because you were praising adds as if they were gifts given to us by the gods. You are going way out of line and exaggerating heavily.

EDIT: too much foul language!

Okay :) I was just trying to counter the argument with my own opinions, insulting me doesn't help.

So yeah who knows what getting rid of all the ads in the world would do? I still think it would be pretty catastrophic, just my opinion and I believe a reasonable one.

I do think the internet has changed things a lot and we are seeing companies coming up with more creative ways of standing out, like Razer "accidentally" putting out a 90% off code (no proof that that was intentional but my better judgement tells me it was) or that 7990 engineering sample that was leaked and sold on ebay for $98k.

So maybe we are coming to the end of direct advertising and are beginning to take more advantage of things like social media, articles, reviews and unboxings, but at the end of the day its all still advertising.

As for YouTube ads, the majority are skippable after a few seconds and they are helping to support the people producing the content. For a good part of my life the internet wasn't fast enough to stream video and we had to watch tv where the ads last 5-10 mins and aren't skippable. Even on the net ads are far less intrusive than the used to be 10 years ago, we are heading in the right direction :) I know this isn't going to go down well but I think people are spoilt these days, everyone has to get fair use out of the internet, and sorry to say that includes advertisers.

you are still missing the point of what i was trying to say but that's allright, i will say that i was agressive but i never insulted you directly i did say that you were out of line and exaggerating i also said you were praising ads as god given gifts but i would hardly consider that insults, anyways i guess the discussion is over as we don't seem to be progressing forward.

(i am very much against ad block btw)

Cool :) Maybe this was a case of us not seeing each others points the way they were intended, no intention of things getting heated and absolutely nothing against you personally... Infact I remember you from the early VB5 days of the forum, always good to see another survivor

I happily watch a few seconds of a boring ad,(to support what I watch and to support google and blablabla) all I really want them to fix about them is the ridiculous volume levels most ads start of with. I really hope adblock disappears.

I really hope it doesn't. Adblock saves me so much money on my phone for blocking ads which means less data usage.

Every 60 seconds in Africa...

A minute passes.

adblock saves you money, but it keeps others from making money too..
