Hi i'm looking at replacing my dying philips SPA2310 2.1 speakers with something a bit nicer.

I've been looking at the SMSL Q5 Pro dac amp for about £88 on ebay uk

and the Roth OLI RA1 speakers for about £80 on amazon uk

I want to know if anyone here can tell me if anything is wrong with this pairing or if you know off anything better for the money ?
I have a budget off £200 for everything including cable and plugs.

Back to original point, the amp is a little under powered for the speakers by about 10 to 20 Watts but should be fine

well the mids and highs are a bit harsh.

get two JBL 305 http://www.amazon.co.uk/JBL-LSR305-Active-Studio-Monitor/dp/B00DUKP37C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455377327&sr=8-1&keywords=jbl+305 and forget that amp

ok so thats £202 for the speakers I still need a dac and cables ?

In that video the only speakers that look ok are the Audioengine A2+B as they has a usb input

for £190

Probably should have stated this but the main reason for wanting a dac is the usb and optical inputs

my onboard audio doesn't work 100% in windows 10 or linux. and the optical would be handy for other devices later on (like ps4/blueray player)

The jbl will sound much better, but yeah you will need a dac with xlr speaker out put.

Not at all, the OP can use TRS to XLR cables, and I believe the JBL has single-ended inputs as well.

I guess it doesn't. It does have a TRS input, though.

would you recommend different speaker or maybe a better amp ?
I picked the speaker as they got an ok review and are not going to take up all my desk space.

and the dac because it has all the inputs I need (plus a remote is handy).

I've had a quick look on ebay and can get a separate dac and amp for about the same price

if you think these would better ??
