Corsair K70 2016 vs. Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum - What should I get?

Hello all

I want to know what keyboard should I get; the Corsair K70 2016 (Cherry MX Brown) or the Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum (Romer-G RGB). What's the typing experience like on these keyboards (The G910 Orion Spark can be a good example, just ignore the keycaps. The ones on the G810 are different in the pictures)

The pictures are below.

So which one should I get to get the best gaming and typing experience (As in not FPS, but playing experience from me)

I'm still thinking about the K70 2016 Standard. Can it work with the CUE software? Or should I still get the G810 Orion Spectrum for the Romer-G experience. What do you think?

There is NO SUCH THING as a K70 2016 RGB!

Whoever is marketing that is just bullshitting and marketing it as a new version when its the EXACT SAME AS THE OLDER K70.  the ONLY difference is that the tramp stamp is removed.  Its the SAME THING.

Proof: Read corsair's forums.  Technobeard even admitted himself he doesn't know why they are trying to pass off a "2016 model" when there IS NO 2016 model !  there is *NO* Version 2 of the Corsair RGB keyboards.

And only the RGB Strafe has the fixed LED controller.

Uh that was aggro right there. The older version before the "2016" version I mentioned was the Vengeance K70. I am simply looking for the Standard version and the newer version replaces the Vengeance K70. Even on their website, you can't find the Vengeance K70 in their product portfolio.

I'm in the same boat; trying to decide between these two keyboards... here are some of the the pros, cons, and equal features in my book:

Logitech G810 ($200CAD)

+ Comes with The Division (worth $80CAD at release)

= Romer-G Switches (similar to MX Browns with O-Rings)

= Disable key: limitless customization because you can program it

= Dedicated media keys, including a volume scroll

+ RGB LED lighting

- No USB pass-through

- Plastic top construction (but fingerprint resistant)

- No wrist-rest

+ Slightly smaller footprint

Corsair K70 ($145-$150CAD)

- (No game included)

= Cherry MX Switches (keycap stem compatibility)

= Disable key: Windows key only

= Dedicated media keys, including a volume scroll wheel

- Red LED lighting

+ USB pass-through

+ Aluminium surface construction

+ Comes with wrist-rest

- Slightly larger footprint

In my opinion, the K70 costs more due to the value add in The Division. Logitech G810 can be though to cost $120.

Even though I'm in love with the new simplistic industrial design from Logitech, I feel as though the benefits of the aluminium surface, wrist-rest, and USB pass-through in the K70 is a better trade off for RGB lighting, and smaller footprint of the G810.

Now it comes down to if you can justify the value of The Division, and if so the 25% increase in cost to get the K70...I'm leaning towards the K70 if The Division doesn't turn out to be so great.

Yeah. Here the K70 costs anywhere in the $109.99-$119.99 USD range (typically. Can go lower. Right now it's $90.99 USD) while the G810 Orion Spectrum costs $159.99 USD. The advantages that the G810 Orion Spectrum is, of course, the RGB lighting and customization and programming, and the Romer-G keys which has the O-rings. So I guess for me, it comes down to cost, and I am more than likely going to settle for the K70 for the USB pass-through, the more professional construction and robustness, and the wrist rest, while trading out the RGB lighting.

The K70 has a RGB version which costs more or less the same as the G810. I'm in the same struggle here but I'm leaning towards the K70 RGB

I used a Corsair K70 with blue LEDs (1st Iteration) for almost two years when I returned it for a defective LED. I didn't have any complaints about the keyboard. Very solid build and the media controls are incredible. I would go with the Corsair, but the best would be to try them out at a store or at least comparing the roamer switches with the cherry ones you want

i would stay away from logitech , i had the g410 , it had no  metal backplate so the whole keyboard would bent when i pressed down a key too firmly , their stabilizers were all squeaky , RGB controls won't let you save a custom RGB profile , the only + are the keyswitches which i thoroughly enjoyed , other than that , build quality is total shite , worse than razer boards.

For sure, the value is much better for you (weak CAD dollar has boosted our games to $80CAD, and K70 to around $150CAD on sale).

I did some more research, and I'm probably set on the K70 (non-RGB) because of the design, easier to clean, and more sturdy construction. I feel like MX Browns are already quiet enough...so the Romer-Gs with a "MX Brown and O-Ring" effect doesn't really impress me too much.

Agreed. Even though the G810 Orion Spectrum is an awesome pair with my G502 Proteus Spectrum, the K70 is going to be my next keyboard of choice.

I got my G810 in the mail yesterday and so far am very happy with it.  Personally I pulled the trigger on this over a corsair options because of the lighting design of the RoamerG and the understated look of the 810.  It feels fantastic to type on and is relatively quiet.  Some issues I still need to figure out include: game specific lighting profiles.  I can change lighting profiles, and I can have game specific Macro Profiles, but I can't seem to figure out how to get game specific lighting profiles.  Not critical but would be nice to have.  Other than that I couldn't be happier.

With all that said, I still don't know if it was worth the extra $$ over something like the K70.  RGB is nice, and the switches are more than sufficient for me.  If I wasn't already planning on buying The Division this would have been a much harder choice.  That said I am very happy with it so far.

Agreed. Even though the G810 Orion Spectrum is an awesome pair with my G502 Proteus Spectrum, the K70 is going to be my next keyboard of choice.

I'm actually in the exact same scenario; my G502 could use an awesome aesthetic pairing buttt I rather go with a super solid build. I'm actually demoing a G410 right now, the switches are super silent and feel pretty good. However, I do prefer having a little more tactile feel...RomerG switches feel really close to Topre switches (silent like a membrane, but sturdy like a Cherry MX).

Glad to hear that you're enjoying it! I think one day if I ever want to use a mechanical keyboard at my workplace I'd go with the G810 for the RomerG switches since they're so damn silent.
