How is Amazon when it comes to PC parts and such?

Amazon customer service is probably the best I've experienced. Being a Prime member also helps you as they prioritise you. I would definitely go with Amazon as I have no experience with Newegg or NCIX.

My PC funds will be coming in any day now, so I'm triple-checking everything before I place my order, but there's one thing I'm curious about... What are the best sites for ordering PC parts? I've always gone with Newegg since I'm so used to just upgrading pieces and I know and trust their customer service. However, I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck on my PC while also consolidating my order to 2-3 stores so that everything comes around the same time (hopefully). Newegg and Amazon seem to have the best prices overall, with the exception of NCIX for my case. I have Amazon Prime, so I'm definitely interested in ordering from them. However, I'm just curious about how they are with returns and such? I know Newegg is really good about getting replacements sent out incredibly fast with DOA parts (in my experience), but I've never really dealt with Amazon's CS for something like that, so I'm unsure how they actually handle things if I happened to get something DOA.

 

Another question, is how good is NCIX's shipping? I'm trying to decide if it would be worth it to order from Newegg instead, so that I know my case will come around the same time as my other parts, or if I should save the $10 and just order the case from them. I'd just hate for everything but my case to show up, and then be stuck waiting forever for it.

My entire rig came from Amazon. Only thing i had a problem with was a faulty Cooler Master fan, and they didn't even make me return it to get a refund.

My build is from amazon. With prime. No problems with it. The only ever problem I have had with them is when I got a printer and the delivery people sent it to the wrong exchange and it got lost. After a 2 minute chat online with someone. A printer was sent and I got it the next day.

Sweet. I'll definitely be ordering the majority of my parts there, though there's a few things that are a good deal cheaper from Newegg, so I'll divide the order between those two sites. I'm still on the edge on whether or not I want to go with NCIX for my case, just to save $10 or not, lol. I'm so mad at myself for not snagging the Define R5 when it was on sale last week for $90. Now it's $119 +$9.99 shipping. x_x

 

EDIT: Nevermind on NCIX. It says it will take 5-8 days to even leave the warehouse, lol. Going to stick with Amazon/Newegg. :)

Amazon is ok, selection is average but the problem is most of the crap isn't shipped from the warehouse (Amazon) so it won't be elegible for "Prime" shipping.

Honestly I think Amazon and Newegg are the best places to buy PC parts. Amazon's shipping is way better but Newegg has a nice and simple layout.

I use a combination of Amazon, Ebay, Newegg, and performancePC's.com

 

Amazon has very good customer service and will give you another month of prime for free if your order was messed up and you make a complaint.

Ebay has a money back guarantee, so you could find some steals, I've gotten two perfect condition GTX 970's for ~$250 a piece and they work great still

Newegg, kind of a standard but getting mediocre as time goes on

PerformancePC's has great customer service and an awesome selection but prices are average and stock isn't always high

Going with Amazon is fine, amazon take bad reviews very serious if's a product from another supplier wich sell over amazon.

 

PS: I like to take local stores(we have some good stores in Germany) but I often order on amazon if anything isn't on stock.

The issue here is that I live an hour away from a Best Buy even, so online is ALWAYS cheaper for me. I don't even think that the Best Buy around here has a PC parts section either.

Everything I have ever bought computer related was from Amazon. Best of the best and free 2 day Prime is amazing

I know for a fact Newegg will help you trouble shoot your new build which I don't believe Amazon will. I have had a great experience with both with general customer service stuff.

 

I remember when I built my computer a few years ago with all part's from Newegg they called me the next day confirming my order and also the person on the phone said "looks like all your parts are compatible." I know when my old roommate built a computer and he had one part that wasn't compatible . Newegg called him to let him know and clarify the issue. I don't see Amazon doing that.

I have bought PC parts from Amazon, Newegg, NCIX and Tiger Direct. Overall, I would pick Amazon.

 

I have had TOO many issues with Newegg, from not accepting my holiday returns (within policy), to not honoring their price match policy, to receiving damaging items with no refund. Also their support takes forever to respond unless you do live chat but even then they have the slowest typist apparently lol

 

Tiger Direct has been 10/10 in customer service but their prices are rarely competitive. I ordered a mobo from them and somehow the socket pins broke (I was new to building!). They refunded me my money without question.

 

NCIX was okay. Price matched and got free shipping (during a promo but it was slow). But other than that, their deals are rarely that much better than competitors.

 

I usually order general stuff from Amazon but did get my peripherals, monitors, and GPU from them. Never had any issue and customer support was always helpful (sometimes annoying but helpful in the end). Like the guy above said, best to have prime. Depending on where you live you might get some parts in under there 48 hours prime guarantee (if it gets there late, contact support and they will give you $ credit or something else nice. Part of the fine print in their policy). Recently my orders have gotten to my door the morning after I order (like 7am early, it's amazing!). But make sure it's Amazon or Amazon fulfilled and not some 3rd party rando.

I like amazon in general, but I find for PC components they rarely have the best price.  I typically order from newegg, I can't really say anything about customer support though because I've never had an issue I needed resolved.

I'm good enough with computers that I don't believe I'll need the troubleshooting. This may be the first computer I'm building from scratch, but I've upgraded and worked on other people's computers many times before. It's definitely a great thing to have just in case, though!

Surprisingly, Amazon has the majority of my build for the cheapest price, though it's mostly because of my Prime. It seems like they pricematch Newegg on things they carry in their own warehouses, and then slap Prime shipping on it. It's only like ~$3 in savings per item bought on Amazon vs Newegg, but that adds up pretty fast with a new build. However, with things like motherboards and cases, it seems like Amazon's prices are always absolutely horrible. You also don't get the same rebate opportunities.

Last time I tried to order something from Newegg, I waited for a month before getting a notification that my package had never even left the factory even though the emails from UPS said it had been in transit the whole time. When I called to see what gives they gave some odd reason as to why they never even shipped it. They did give me my money back but that was it.

 

I've never had that issue with Amazon. Sometimes Amazon doesn't always have a part but I can usually work around that by finding a similar one. I also prefer to use amazon gift cards for my purchases (mostly a personal preference, helps keep me from getting carried away). You can also find a lot of used parts if you hunt around. My Blu-ray drive came from them but I saved 20 USD on the 51 USD cost because I bought it "used" from a third party (I say used but it had never even been plugged in or taken out of its box.

I am not sure about worldwide shipping, but from where I am in the UK, Ebuyer.com has always served me well, as well as Overclockers. Amazon-wise, I definitely approve of their delivery and customer service, however I sometimes find it unclear what I am getting if there are 3rd party vendors involved. But as long as you stick to brands you know, its a perfectly good way to shop.

I've used Amazon, Newegg, and NCIX.

 

NCIX: Good about price matching, but only to other Canadian retailers. You can however get 10% off your order if you try to price match to an American seller. They send you an e-ail saying sorry we can't match this but we took 10% off anyways. My shipping with them is good because they are just a ferry away, literally got a PSU next day once.

 

Newegg: Never had a bad experience here.

 

Amazon: Shipping takes for god damn ever, but the savings are sometimes worth it. I bought a 250gb SSD for $101 Canadian, taxes and shipping included, but it took 13 days to get here.... Their customer service is really helpful though. Had a Credit Card issue, resolved lickity split while chatting with them.
