$7000 PC build

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hcKg23 this is the pc that i managed to put together for my client.  He wants a $7000 PC. I honestly dont know what he wants to do with it but all i know is that he wants a high performance pc and he has the money and is willing to pay for this pc. can you guys refine this PC and make it better than what i had put in here. i assume that he needs it for high performance computing and all the systems that i built are $400 to $600 so i dont have much expertise with something this expensive. leave your comments down below

go with a dual xeon build. That would definetly justify the cost and be a lot more effective than a haswell 8 core. It would be a productivity master. Check out linus video on ultimate work station motherboard and look at the system that puget system made for barnacules nerdgasm.

You should ask him what it is for... if it is for compute/server that requires a completely different build than one that is purely for extremely extreme gaming.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Or this:

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

OP, it's vital to find out what he will be using it for. When it comes to computers, $7000 can be spent in many different ways. You could build a bitchin' 8-core monster with 3 GTX 980 Ti, or you could deck out a dual Xeon setup. These computers will obviously perform very differently with any given scenario.

Will he be rendering videos with complex effects? Will he be doing complex 3D rendering? Xeon and a Quadro

Will he be doing extreme rendering of gameplay video and streaming? 8-cores would be enough, chuck a couple of GTX 980 Tis in there and you're good.

Context is everything.

I would be tempted to go with a better motherboard, faster storage, and a custom cooling loop for quieter operation and better overclocking. In single & lightly threaded applications, the higher base clock of an i7-5930K should provide better performance.

You have yet to mention what this PC is for.

Either you just have not said, or you are full of it (there is no client).  Because of the trend of these types of threads, I am leaning towards a real possibility that there is no client.

There is no way a client asks for a PC without the topic of it's purpose being addressed.  A $7000 assumption?  Gimme a break.

Look, i dont know what kind of person my client is as i really dont care about his life. all i know is that he has alot of money to throw around and if there is no client then why would i be typing up this thread here. Plus in my opinion $7k for a pc is too much OVERKILL and is just a pure waste of money. Personally with $7k id just build myself a $1k PC and use the rest of the $6K to pay off my rent for the next 6 months. And I did ask my client what its used for and all he said was he wants pure performance.

@glitchmaster0001

How are here asking for help to spend $7000 on a PC when you have no idea what it is going to be used for?

No one here can actually help you.  You assume this or that.  No assumptions:  Get on the phone and ask the man what the PC needs to be able to do.

you got a point there but im making this post based on the info i got from the client, which is "i want a high performance computer and money is not my concern." Based on what he says all i can assume is that he believes that throwing more money at a problem will fix it. yes i will try to contact the client and ask in detail what he wants out of his $7,000. but im just clarifying that im not making this "bullshit" post just for the hell of it as that would be a waste of my time and your time.

I wouldn't ask him what he wants out of his $7000 myself, I would stick with what will he use it for, specifically.

Then work the build out to that, and give them as much performance fit for purpose as the budget will allow, and always come in under budget if possible.

There is loads of space in the Phanteks case to mount radiators, a pump, and reservoir. Lots of room in the budget for the necessary parts, including a cpu water block.
