980 is not even a 780Ti

 

the memory bus is different 256bit vs 384bit

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

The 980 isn't a low-end card, period. With that said, I believe the gtx 980 isn't worth the premium over a regular 970. I think you're better off saving a little extra and purchasing the 980ti.

Lolwut? GTX 980 is a fully unlocked GPU. The 970 is the gimped one, but still performs so close and is much cheaper that its worth it.

 

Technically, Nvidia chipnames ending in a 4 were historically mid range products, but the GK104 and GM204 carried their weight into the upper midrange / lower high end performance ranges, as well as bringing previously unheard of performance per watt efficiency.
