Does more ram = smoother mine craft when having a large red stone creation

I mean, what´s the rest of the computer specs? I could be just as easily the cpu not being able to handle all that redstone.

No. Minecraft will use only the amount of ram allocated to it. Anything over 2GB of ram is useless for non-modded minecraft. A better CPU will help.

getting a 6700k but I was just wondering as if you where to make a real large auto farm it lags due to many drops etc, but ram does not help with this?

No a good CPU is more helpful I tested and chunks don't load any faster when using a GTX980ti or GTX760. But when OCing the CPU they loaded faster so MC is heavy on CPU

getting a 6700k but I was just wondering as if you where to make a real large auto farm it lags due to many drops etc, but ram does not help with this?

RAM is nice to have but 8gb is fine 16gb is ideal

No a good CPU is more helpful I tested and chunks don't load any faster when using a GTX980ti or GTX760. But when OCing the CPU they loaded faster so MC is heavy on CPU

I think he means like RAM ram. Like DDR3.

minecraft is mostly all cpu. Past a point ( i believe 4ish gigs or ram) it wont really make a difference.

Single threaded cpu performance is what matters for redstone circuits. Any amount of ram above 2GB will have negligible impact.

Depends on what you're doing really. I noticed improvements taking the max allocated and the initial up to 4GB, but I run some aggressive shaders and a 64x (or 128x, can't remember) resource pack.

 

But I think an overall better CPU would help with redstone circuits.
