maybe they are just rebranding maxwells to pascal? Pascal isn't even a real thing, Maxwell was supposed to be followed by Volta, they just squeesed in Pascal in the last second because they don't have Volta ready yet.

Maxwell is such a great and super advanced micro-architecture after all...

There will always be something better around the corner...so if you need a GPU, buy one

 

now pascal will come out somewhere in the second half of 2016, and you'll have to decide if you wait for ''big'' pascal or just go with the ''mid-range'' pascal cards...it's always like that.

 

2017 is when the ''big papa'' pascal will come out, successor to the GTX 980ti/TitanX.

What is launching this year is supposedly the ''smaller'' GPU, meant to replace the 970 and 980...so you'll likely get ''GTX 980 like performance'' for the cost of the GTX 970...up to you to decided if it's worth the wait

That's not when they will launch for us. "Maybe" see them in late q3 but probably end of this year or early 2017.

Probably see the 1080 first, and look where the 980 lies in the Maxwell lineup. Better to wait until all the models are out and the price has stabilized. Another words at least a year, probably longer.

I was thinking of keeping them and maybe buying a third, but I probably won't get Samsung ram on a new one, and two pascals should still be better, and Volta is too far away.
