R9 what?

If you're gaming solely, save the money and get a 6600K instead. You need a Z170 to overclock.

I would say 6600k is best choice. I have the 6800k with a 970 and get 60+ fps in GTA V with LSPDFR mods installed.

Intel Core i7-6700k | 2 X Gigabyte 4GB GTX 970 Overclocked Edition | 16GB (4X4GB) DDR4 2133MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum | MasterCase Pro 5

ASUS Z170 Deluxe Motherboard | 256GB Samsung 840 Pro + Seagate 2TB Storage | Corsair Hydro H80i GT | Windows 10 Pro 64bit | Corsair HX850i

Skylake overpriced? What nonsense is that. Here in the Netherlands both Haswell and Skylake are equally priced. So that argument solely relies on your geographic location.

6700K is also much better;

I would be considering a 5820k over a i7 6700k. Same price as a 6700k in most cases and has 2 more cores, more cache, and more PCI lanes.

Plus, you can pick up a 5820k for a 100$ less then a 6700k at Micro Center, and you can probably price match to a store near you if micro center is not in your region.
