WD Red 4TB GIVEAWAY!

LinusTech

A 64gb samsung 830

And a 1tb seagate barracuda

My rig was a 1000 dollar game rig, so i went for a cheap storage system that still has *some* speed, at the moment my OS is on the SSD and games on the seagate, however that may change in the near future, to make games load faster.

Iam running a ssd for windows and an ancient Samsung 1tb for all my steam games, because it was Cheap and kinda what you you could do back then. Instead of having more drives, I have all my importent stuff in dropbox folders and all my game saves is on skydrive, so if my samsun drive dies out it will be "easy" to get the importent stuff. I do want more game storage, since I have a lot of games and gonna be having bigger files on my upcomming Classes on University.

My Current setup is 640GB WD Black (OS)drive and a 1TB 5400RPM WD Green (media/backup)drive.  I first purchased the black drive replacing an older 250GB WD Black drive, and couldn't afford anything more.  I later got the green drive as it was only for media and backups, so speed wasn't really an issue to me, plus it was cheap.  Also haven't gone SSD because of price and waiting for the tech to really catch up and get to a WELL proven reliability(things are still moving forward).

currently running a Samsung 840 250GB SSD as main boot drive and a WD 2TB Black as a storage/junk drive. I think these choices are pretty much self explanatory, the speed of an SSD to boot and hold my most used programs from and a platter for its cheap storage size.

forgot to mention this earlier I boosted the performance of the WD drive with a 64GB Crucial m4 SSD using Intel Smart Response Technology, to get it close to SSD levels. This is more of an experiment on my part as I read about the Intel srt somewhere on the web somewhere and it peaked my interest and decided to incorporate it in my build.

On my main PC I use a Kingston SSD V300 120GB for the OS, programs and Battlefield 3, a 160GB Seagate SV35 P-ATA drive and a Samsung SpinPoint F3 1000GB. I use the SSD because it brings speed to my system, the 160GB HDD I use for storing valuable data and most important backups while the Samsung is used for games and storage (two partitions). And I need more storage capacity.

I have a Seagate barracuda 2TB because its the value for money compared to a WD Black and a Samsung SSD for a boot drive and some games because Samsung are dominating in the SSD industry.

I have a total storage of 1.5 TB .. (1TB  and a 0.5TB hard drive) I actually bought a WD 500GB hard drive with my PC but eventually I needed more hard drive space and went for a terabyte .. I bought WD because of its price.. Its affordable and performance doesn't really matter to me so Ill prefer not to speak about it :D

I currently have two storage drives in my computer. One is an Intel 240GB SSD for Windows 8 and programs due to its speed. The other drive is a WD 3TB Red drive for storage, mainly family pictures and videos. The reason I chose the configuration I did, is for the speediness of the SSD for the OS to load and programs to load, while not sacrificing storage capacity by having a 3TB mechanical hard drive.

I just have a 1TB Seagate drive where I store everything and another 1TB external drive to backup. Unluckily I did not have money to get an SSD to run my OS in...

Because of my case (prodigy) and some mods I am working on I had to use just 2 2,5" drives. Because of a seagate barracuda failing and good experience with WD velociraptors I went for a blue 1TB mobile for storage (missing 7200rpm) :(

Since I was pretty noob with SSD's I found that Kingston made the cheapest/fastest 240GB ssd's, so a Hyper x it was:) :):)

I have a 128GB 840 pro that is used only as a boot drive and a few small programs. I used to have 2 250GB drives in RAID1 before the steam summer sale, but that filled up before I even got all my new games downloaded. I upgraded to 2 1TB barracudas in a RAID1 that is quickly filling up. I want to start recording and editing videos but I will need more storage to keep my videos.

I run a 128GB Crucial M4 and a 500GB WD Blue drive. The best comprised between speed and performance I could afford at the time, got the drives after the massive SSD prices drops in Europe months ago, and the hard drives after the price settled down after the floods. SSD has my OS/programs and all my personal data/games on the hard drive, pretty standard config.

Run an old laptop with a 120GB Hitachi hard drive as my experimental FreeNas server, surprised in the performance I'm getting (in a good way)

1 Samsung 256GB 830 SSD because it was a very good price when I bought it, and the reviews were good.

1 WD Black 2TB because I needed a large enough hard drive to store games, movies, music, and pictures.

The reason I have the storage solution I have is because I'm sick, sick with an incurable compulsion to upgrade things ... for example, solid state drives are upgradable  hence here I am with my storage solution

I started upgrading with my first ssd purchase of a X25 intel 40g ssd and liking the speed boost over old HDDs' I quickly moved on 2x intel 80g ssd for trying out Raid0.  I then realized that as fast as they were they (solid state drives) were also not great for holding tons of movies.  I qualified the need for more storage and decided its upgrade time.... introducing a new WD 1TB Green drive.

Sadly, shortly after  I relapsed do to my sickness (not my fault, I'm the victim here-its a documented illness ... or it should be ) and purchased a shinny new OCZ 120gb ssd :)

I am currently running a 60gb OCZ Vertex Plus as a bootdrive and a 320gb Samsung HD322HJ for all my games, music and stuff. I have a 1.5tb external harddrive that I am using for backup of all of my files. I am planning to build a nas for storage of all my files and backups, but I haven't got the RAID card and the harddrives yet.

I'm running a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 because it was the best performing HDD at the time which cost as much as most 1TB drives (WD black was faster but cost too much).

I added a Samsung 840 SSD earlier this year when I upgraded to W8 for better performance.

I would like to add a NAS for backup and streaming movies but I can't really afford it at the time.

1) i unfortunately don't have any ssd, as i am a student and can't afford one. I have however a 500gb WD scorpio blue that came with my laptop, and i am not much of a high storage user as i use streaming services such netflix and spotify for the moment atleast i dont need anything bigger or faster. I also have a 2TB NAS with one 750GB seagate drive, that my dad gave me but was a 3.5" drive so couldnt fit in my laptop. one 250GB hitachi drive that was from my old laptop. Finally one one TB western digital green drive that i went out and brought! as i need more space for my back ups. This is mainly backed up storage in case my laptop hdd fails, but i do have all of my photos stored on it as well as some movies. the NAS is homemade from a very old pc that my dad gave me and he recommended that i got one as he has one.

I'm currently using a WD Caviar Black 1tb, RE4-GP 2tb for my storage, and I had a bunch of other hdds left from my old system, which I don't use them frequently. I'm still waiting for my dream case to be launch for my server build, which is the Lian Li pc-d7000, and I will put a bunch of WD red drive in it for storage..
