i5-6500 and MOBO H170-HD3 DDR3

Reso

Hi, would these two be compactible? I have 2x4GB Kingston DDR3 1600MHz sticks already and I'm wondering if it would work, because on Tom's Hardware I've read something about Skylake's incompactibility with DDR3.

Also should I rather wait until AMD releases Zen architecture, so the prices will drop (maybe), or I would buy AMD?

Btw I'm upgrading from FX-4100 and my budget is around 320€ which is just around the price of this processor and mobo together (315€ in my country).

Dont use normal DDR3 on skylake, it works, but is bad for the CPU, it can damage it, you need to use either DDR3L or DDR4.

That mobo only supports ddr4, the i5 supports ddr3 and ddr4. So you have two options, change the mobo to one with ddr3 ram slots or buy differnt ram.

If I use words like probably or most likely, it is because I dislike certainty. These words can probably be omitted and the sentence read as a certainty.

This elaborates nothing..

it absolutely does, just listen to the video...it says why and how you could and you will wreck your CPU controler over time is you use standard DDR3 memory with a skylake processor.

Video is 5min. long educate yourself.
