I5 4690K or I7 4790K

NO!!! It's due to hyperthreading, which a lot of NEW releases are able to use.

Ok i understand now, I thought games wouldn't use hyperthreading until DX 12.

Current Build: Core i7 4790k @ 4.6, Asus Maximus VII Hero, Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400mhz 8gb (2x4gb), GTX 980ti, NZXT Kraken X61, Fractal Define R5  EVGA Supernova B2 850w, Some 300gb hard drive.

Isn't that just due to a much higher clock speed?

It looks like GTA V is pretty effectively using 8+ threads in that benchmark since the 3.0 GHz i7-5960x has the highest framerate.

So I want to upgrade my PC, realised X99 is just too much :/

You can get a 5820K for pretty cheap. I got mine for $320, which is about £220 (I think.. £ is pound right?) The motherboard and ram is where they get you. I spent $120 on 16Gb and the motherboard cost the same as the CPU... Why are X99 motherboards so damn expensive! Right at $320. So that's about £520 before tax. After tax it cost me $830, which is £570. I understand things are more expensive there, but you can probably work X99 into your budet; used parts might be an option too? I know @NannerBeans sells a lot of stuff. (Not trying to advertise items for sale, just stating that he does) Just a thought. Even though this might work, I would not recommend doing it if you don't need it, the only reason I upgraded from my 4790K was because I only had to spend $200 more for a much better CPU, and I have upgraditis (if someone knows a therapist for this, please let me know). I know I ranted a lot, but just wanted to let you know about this, just in case you really wanted X99.

No Malware, regularly do virus scans :/

Here's my RAM usage running a game;

-SNIP-

Could be a memory leak. I had one on my new system, turns out the software that came with the motherboard (Killer LAN) caused a leak for Windows 10. Do a search on some stuff you installed and memory leaks on them on google.

Thanks for letting me rant :D

14GB commited?! WTF.

Mine is 3.8GB/10.9GB and I'm using 3.3GB atm.

It's a memory leak I believe.

I have an i5 4690K overclocked to 4.5GHz and it's perfect if you're just gaming.

If you do stuff like editing videos, streaming etc. I'd suggest the i7 4790K.

I hope this helps you. 8GB of RAM should be enough for gaming though.

If you do more than just gaming and casual stuff 16GB are not bad considering the low price of DDR3 RAM at the moment ^^

what kind of stuff do you do?

I never reach 7gb when gaming O.o

Try playing battlefield 4 in windows 10/.....

I got bunch of "not enough memory" warnings when I play that game...><

So now I am using 16G of RAM...

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

I'd say go with a 4690k and a decent motherboard to overclock that and you should be good. Adding in another 8GB of RAM won't cost much either. Then at that point, if you have money left over, you can upgrade your gpu. It'll make more of a difference than getting a better cpu.

8GB isn't enough for me for some reason :/ Windows gives me low memory even when nothing is running but a game and steam...

I feel the same way I'm always above 8gb's..always have like 40 chrome tabs open, because in my mind I always think maybe I'll come back to this page later :D

Is it normal???

Or how do I fix it???

I use GTX780 from asus, non-reference ; i7-4770 and 16G of RAM/../....

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

if that was the case then the 8350 wouldn't be losing to a 2500K let alone the 3570k
