How much can I overclock and overclock my Pentium?

I have a Pentium E6300 whose stock frequency is 2.8GHz.. I overclocked it to 3.4GHz so I lower the bottleneck on my GPU.. Problem with the CPU is that it doesn't have an unlocked multiplier so I had to OC the FSB which also overclocks RAM.. Fortunately I could choose FSB:RAM ratio and I left it on 663MHz by 1:1 ratio... it's usually 666.. I have 2x2GB DDR2 800MHz and 2x512MB 666MHz.. When I overclock the ram to lets say 800MHz I keep gettings BSODS and my applications/games crash... Can I fix that by overvolting the RAM and should I change the CPU voltage from Auto to some certain voltage.. it usually runs on 1.1 on idle and 1.36 on full load (max recommended).. I know overcloclking can't damage my parts but overvolting can  so I am really scared to do it.. Is there anyone who could tell me the exact voltages and clocks I should use.. and tell me if I should overvolt at all. I mean does it really matter if my ram is 500MHz or 700MHz

Most of that depends on the motherboard you're using, but if you're on an E6300 I'm surprised your mobo even supports fsb changes. I would be content with what you got, 3.4ghz on an locked cpu that defaults at 2.6 is pretty damn good.

Just buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTEL-Core-2-Quad-Q6600-2-4GHz-Quad-Core-LGA-775-CPU-SLACR-Free-Shipping-/401046628582?hash=item5d603de8e6:g:uJkAAOSwNgxWELrt

Ram speed doesn't really matter. You can go as high as 1.7v safely on DDR2. Max safe voltage for the Exxx 45nm is roughly 1.45v 24/7 use.

You chould be able to get 3.8ghz - 4.0ghz. Perhaps 4.2ghz if you have a good chip and power.

i3-4170, H81 board, 8GB DDR3, Crucial M4, GTX 770, Xigmatek Vangaurd Case, Creative Titanium X-fi, Razer Carcharias, 500w PSU, 24" VA panel and a 42" IPS. Thinking about getting a plant.

Actually stock is 2.8GHz (There is two different E6300 one is Pentium and one ic Core Duo.. I have the pentium).. My mbo is MSI P45 Neo-F.. and yeah even I'm surprised I can overclock at all.. I currently don't have the money to buy anything .. I just spend 250 dollars on my gpu+psu. EVGA GTX950 and EVGA500W

I suggest you wait a little until you can afford the 30 bucks for a q6600, the problem with overvolting is that you may kill the motherboard - and that's the last thing you want, right?

Yes I will buy a new CPU... but not that one but a FX6300.. my build is already half ready.. only thing I miss is the CPU :) currently I am using this CPU and MBO with all new parts (GPU,PSU,Case).. while my RAM,MBO are waiting for my cpu.. meanwhile I am gaming on ultra settings 1080p thx to overclocks and my baby GTX 950 <3

I'd try 343 FSB (should give you 3.6) with 1.4V (more than fine on air, even my little cooler can keep up with a 1.45v e3300).

You should be able to drop the RAM divider, a FSB of 343 should result in a minimum RAM speed of 685MHz.

To get 800MHz from the 667MHz kit you might need to loosen the timings to 5-5-5-15 and provide it 2V or so.

If you're still in time I wouldn't go for a 6300. In most games a core i3 is faster.

The JEDEC tables are just the set 'generic' standards for DDR2

Try running the FSB I suggested (346) and setting the minimum RAM speed your BIOS allows (min RAM is half the effective FSB speed). Then run that with 5-5-5-15 2V :)

i would suggest you getting a xeon 5420/5440/5450 and modding that socket, that would be a huge upgrade for you,  they can hit 3,6-4 ghz for fun

The site has changed....

You wont see voltage reported in CPU-Z (For the RAM anyway). You should get more from an E6300 if you push it a bit :)

Naah. I don't think I need more than 3.6GHz.. for a first time overclock in my life that's more than a lot xD.. I did stress testing on GPU,RAM and CPU... cpu temperature was stuck on 61/60°C.. Voltage is still jumping at 1.36V just like on stock overclocks...

On LGA 775, "locked multi" isn't really a problem with OC : LINK.
^That was done on CPU almost identical to OP's PDC E6300 (E5400).

As for OC :
I would drop 2x512MB kit, and go with only 2x2GB to 400MHz FSB (ie. 1600MHz FSB/800MHz on RAM).
Then it's just the question of adjusting CPU Multiplier for best Frequency/Temperature by changing CPU Vcore.
With stability problems, U can always increase VTT to 1,3V or RAM voltage.

PS. Don't forget to set timings to 6.6.6.18, because that 800MHz RAM isn't that good.
Good luck.

At least, more than 4GB isn't needed with PDC E6xxx CPU.
GPU VRAM is equally important as RAM in this games.
