Mechanical Keyboard Club!

Dave :)

umm no...... Clears were one of the earliest Cherry MX switches

Yep, Kira0172 has more or less understood what I'd meant......don't take my somewhat over-enthusiastic statement literally. :)

Anyway, will post pics of a HHKB pro 2 White when I get it next week. While I may like Cherry MX switches a lot, I love Topre.....

The Charcoal Grey HHKB Pro 2 I have right now was bought brand new, at high brand new price here in Asia at about 330USD, but the white that I'd be getting is used at substantially reduced price  at ~190USD, so it's a bargain to me. With that, I think I'm more or less done with buying keyboard. Arranging to trade my Storm Trigger for DS2, and selling off my Armaggeddon MKA-3 TKL as well.

Got a Filco Majestouch Ninja tenkeyless with Cherry MX Blues and custom key caps:

Keyboard

Unfortunately as I am in the UK I got a UK layout keyboard,ISO. but I ordered my key caps from WASD and I was unaware that there two different keyboard layouts for the UK and the US. This is the reason why there are still black keys on the keyboard as the US key caps do not fit in those positions.

My rig: i5 2500k, MSI Z77A G45, Gainward GTX 980 Phantom, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, OCZ ZT series 750W PSU, 1TB HDD, 800D, fully water cooled. I am currently working on modding my HAF 912+ to fit a custom loop, here is the build log: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/165963-project-viridis-water-cooled-haf-912/

Problem is I am in the UK so even if he did give the correct keys I would have to pay about £25 just to get it over here with shipping and taxes and I dont think that it is worth it for a few keys.

Damn, was at the tech mall earlier and I just couldn't help myself.....bought a Topre Type Heaven, and swapped out its stock ABS key caps with my spare blue PBT ones. I got to say, it feels more like I'm typing on my RealForce with the key cap upgrade. Below is a pic of the keyboard in the midst of the key cap upgrade...

Also, while I was there, I'd arranged to meet a guy who was selling his white HHKB Pro 2, so now my Pro 2 set is complete with a charcoal grey and white ones...pic below is the tow just acquired keyboards with my charcoal grey Pro 2.

he can probably send them as normal mail if its just a few so you shouldnt have a problem, I would contact him and see what can be done.

Yeah, point of fact they do look pretty good, laser etch gold on black like Leopold's, but being ABS, they don't quite have the Topre feel and sound. With the blue PBT ones, it felt and sounded like my Topre RealForce.....the key caps do play a part for that Topre feel. I'm now happily typing with it actually.....now, I have more than enough Topre keyboards to use as my daily drivers.

So... type heaven is like realforce without PBTs?

I'm no expert, but with the change of key caps to the Topre PBT ones, it does sound difference (the ABS key caps have a more hitched thock), and feel difference as well. There are, of course, other differences, like the case itself does not feel as solid as the Topre, it's a simpler design but, it is heavy because, I suspect, the switches are plate mounted like Realforce.....quite a bit of heft to it actually. I'm using it to type this post and it's almost like my Realforce.

Whoa, those hazard PBTs sure as heck look damn good!  I'd ordered a couple of DOTA caps, a set of three aluminum autobot, decepticon and Mario caps as well....and a pair of red Esc key caps for Topre, just waiting for them to arrive.

Does anybody know how white the white backlight is on the DS3? I'm buying one soon but I'm torn between the white and orange backlight, however if the white isn't really white and has more of a blue tint I would rather get the orange backlight.

Blues. I prefer Blues, Greens, & Browns. I still haven't tried mx-Clears yet, but from what I hear Iam sure I would like those as well.

Hello from West Melbourne!  You'd love the Clears for sure.  It's what most people are looking for when they get Browns but they just don't know it yet 'cause they have yet to try Clears.  :)
