Hi guys, I just finished my Filco Majestouch Ninja. Went through red keys, custom keys, corsair fps keys, Red 2mm O-rings and in the end ended going with blank key caps, crosshatch gamer keys and had to re-do the whole board with Black 2mm O-rings which are slightly firmer. After all that nonsense I guess I preferred understated.

those are some really nice looking WASD and 1-6 key's. Love the clean look man. That board must be completely silent now?

Man I like that space bar. They should have made that the default one.

I was lucky enough to get a replacement spacebar in my box:

17XJ26Bl.jpg

Overall so far, I have enjoyed typing on this keyboard. The browns are a change to the usual blacks I have been using for a while but my first impressions so far is that it is money well spent!

Hint: you may missed something in my post, double check or something along those lines.

I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT ALTERNATE SPACEBAR LOOKED LIKE THAT!!!! I thought it was just a plain bar.

Thank you. Just a guess but I would say its maybe 50% quieter? The O-rings I used first didn't do much, maybe 15% quieter max. In fairness to the red O-rings I type very loud, just heavy handed I guess.

Guys, the stork came this morning with a new baby keyboard, a nice little fella by the name of Leopold.... :P

The package with some extra PBT key caps I'd gotten to spice it up a little

Yep, Cherry Clear, my first,,,,,it comes with PBT key caps with gold legends. Although a small board, it still has some heft to it.

Go for it, bro, this is one very nice keyboard. Clears are stiffer at 55g, and has a tactile feel.....sort of like Blacks with the tactile feedback w/o the click. On a whole, it's also quieter than Black even when you bottom out. Now, I'm curious about Whites....

Seems like a nice group, so I'll post what I've got.  :D

I first heard about Mechanical Keyboards about a year ago on LinusTechTips, and since then my love for them has not died down (yet my wallet wishes it would).

I currently own two Mechanical keyboards,  a Filco Majestouch 2 and a Leopold FC660C. I love them both but the FC660C is my daily driver for the most part unless I need some numberpad action.

Before I get into this I would like to say I am a Colemak user, but I will probably make a post about that at some point.

Sorry for the bad pic quality, didn't feel like going outside for lighting and my wallet is too empty for a good camera

Filco Majestouch 2: My first mech, I have changed the keycaps twice now. The first time I bought I 37 key grey mod kit of ABS keycaps from wasd and used that for a while as I didn't want to have Qwerty Letters on a keyboard where I primarily use Colemak. Then I took it to the next level as I was kinda bored with it, so I plasti dipped it grey and got a full set of PBT keycaps and a PBT Dota R4 Key. Honestly it felt like an entirely new keyboard (it need some repainting in places as I didn't bother with a clear coat)

z9w0Ony.jpg

Leopold FC660C: Now this keyboard was the biggest surprise for me, I thought Cherry MX keyboards would be my preferred keyboard judging by my shoes, but boy was I wrong. This keyboard may not be the best looking on the block but typing on it is incredible. This has been my first Topre board, so I haven't experience a HHKB or anything. Its like the decently attractive girlfriend who is hilarious, very worth it. Typing sounds like rain drops and feels like little balloons or frogs are under my keys (sadly neither of those things is under them). Its pretty long but the arrow keys and Delete key are a nice touch. I love this thing.

668s8bP.jpg

TL;DR:  I own a Filco Majestouch 2 and Leopold FC660C, Filco is slightly modded. FC660C is my daily driver because Topre is incredible.

Yeah, you preach it to these Cherry MX plebeians! :D  Typing on Topre is like typing on a cloud of boobs.

But seriously, it all down to preference, most actually prefer Cherry MX (stock or modded) to Topre. And Topre may not be something that one instantly likes, it may grow on you.....

Anyway, welcome to the club! ;)

Yeah I love it!

I'm actually curious as to how many people prefer Cherry MX and how many just haven't bothered to try/buy one. It grew on me like a fungus (a fantastic fungus).

Glad to be part of it  :D

Just got my Filco Majestouch 2 about a week ago with Cherry MX Blues and I love it. It is my first mechanical keyboard and it is so much better than any membrane keyboard, I can already feel my words per minute going up.

My rig: i5 2500k, MSI Z77A G45, Gainward GTX 980 Phantom, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, OCZ ZT series 750W PSU, 1TB HDD, 800D, fully water cooled. I am currently working on modding my HAF 912+ to fit a custom loop, here is the build log: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/165963-project-viridis-water-cooled-haf-912/

CM Storm is selling a cherry mx sampler kit with MX- Blues, Blacks, Reds, Browns, Clears, & Greens mounted to  what kind of looks like a number pad. It's going to cost $15 and if you buy it you will get $15 off of a CM Storm mech keyboard.

Do you guys think a cherry clicky maniac (blue/green) would love a topre switch

Actually its my case, im too afraid its just a waste of money to get a topre

IF you really dig the clickiness (don't know if there's such a word) of Green and Blue, then no, Topre isn't for you. Typing on a Topre is quieter (and smoother I might add) than any Cherry switch keyboards, except for the thock when I bottom out. Stick to you Cherry Greens and Blues.....

Guess you are nt suited for the switch. You should try topre as it has the closest resemblance of membranes
