Is it just me?

Brennan Price

I am generally just curious as to how many people still use 1280x1024 displays. My only display is this size and it is 15 years of age.

Please comment below if you still use one because I feel so lonely.

Yeah I have a 5:4 display. The only reason for it though was because it was free with the PC, which was also free, and the desk, chair and decent software... I'm getting a new setup soon though.

Nice, although I thought 1280x1024 was 4:3. Not 5:4. Am I wrong?

i have one that's good old eggshell white. i use it for testing equipment, because it's got a fast response time compared to newer monitors.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I think so, most people call them 4:3 anyway! £110 1080p monitor soon for me though!

Nice, mine is silver and I think its response time is either 6 or 8 ms. Kinda bad I know.

the one I was using was the acer al1716 so it was 75hz, I kinda got used to the reduced width but 27 inches of 1440p 144hz opened my eyes again. I doubt I could ever go back tbh

I use one... It's above my 2 1200p and 1 1080p monitor though :P I have a 3+1 setup, and I really like it, and to be honest, that little 19" 1280x1024 monitor is the one I miss most if it isn't here/connected... It's so nice having 2 monitors atop each other. :)

Getting my LG 29" Ultrawide monitor in a few days, it'll be like having 2 5:4 1280x1024 monitors side by side. So hyped :D

I have had to use 5:4 monitors before and it's pretty awful IMO.

I do own a 5:4 1280x1024 display, but I haven't used it in a number of years. It's sitting in the basement in a bag with an extension cord, a keyboard and a mouse as part of an emergency kit in case something breaks or I have to take them somewhere. No way I'd be taking the stuff on my desk for that.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.

I use a 19" 1280x1024 as a second monitor at work because of a CAM program that doesn't work well on a widescreen.  Also have a friend who's using two of the same 19" Samsung 5:4 monitors along with a 24" 1080p in a Eyefinity setup and it works surprisingly well.
