led module putting out inconstant voltage

so this isn't a case mod but its a qaudcopter mod :P. anyways i got a little led module to hook up led strips to my drone and i want to use rgb leds with it and so i needed to figure out the voltage that the module is putting out to see if its compatible with the rgb control box 12 v. and its putting out an inconsistent voltage (very inconsistent) does anyone know why this would happen? @W-L any ideas

If it's directly from the li-po unregulated it will vary depending on load and how fully charged it is

 

There are modules like these depending on your input voltage you drop the output voltage and keep it regulated once you set it with the poteniometer:

Note for buck regulators it can only step down the voltage and regulate you need something else if your planning to step up to 12V from a lower input voltage.

What voltage does your li-po output, usually you don't want to run LED's directly usually since the change in voltage can be fairly large. As for that module is that what they use for the LED's it looks like a voltage regulator or sorts to me possibly with a variable voltage with that little switch.

the switch just turns the lights on or off. the battery puts out 15.2 v also something about 4480mAH (68Wh)

As long as the output of that PCB module with the black and white wires are 12V I don't see any problem with it and the LEDs, I would best double check with a multimeter to make sure. The controller box for the RGB lights may be a little bulky though on a quadcopter, there are smaller controllers like this if you want to keep weight and size down as much as possible:

The module outputs inconsistently like it keep changing voltages?

 

If that was the case I light want to change it out for something else it's odd why it would do that.

By looking at the PCB it looks like some kind of regulator to me. It Haß the typical combination of input and output condensators, a coil, a Diode and a controller.

However without more information I can't predigt the output voltage or current. But some regulator require a Minimum load like 20 mA ich to have a stable output.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil
