What is death?

I know the clinical term for death is stopping someones heart, but... if it is then why can we freeze someones body and stop all of their life functions down to zero, including their heart and brain functions, then bring them back from the dead?

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

Since we are the ones stopping functions and not a natural cause, the body can be revived.

death is different from cryogenic sleep afaik...

death ultimately ends with permanent brain damage due to either actual physical damage or oxygen starvation (secondary to other ailments)...

I just have approximate knowledge on the topic so don't quote me for factual information...

death is the point where the person is no longer functioning. (no heartbeat, no brain activity, etc.)

its kind of a grey zone where exactly the line is, because i know a guy that technically "died" 5 times already, and he's still not up to retirement from his job as an interior architect.

EDIT: ps; remember what i said in the 0.999... = 1 thread? i'm not gonna repeat it, i'm just gonna remind you.

there are multiple deaths actually.

brain death is the final one. where the brain stops functioning and dies.

putting someone in hybernation "kills" the body (puts it on some sort of iddle) and does not kill the brain activity. it slowes it down

its weird.

lol

there was this guy a while back that paid a shit ton of cash to put his wife on ice when she was diagnosed with cancer, to have her woken up when a cure was found.

well.. we found a "treatment" for cancer by now, lady is still frozen because we have no clue how to get her back to a walking human being.

you know how they can reanimate a person? well.. thats the clue here.

they basicly kill you, and then put you on ice so you stay within the range where they can still reanimate you.

the catch is we dont have the technology to get you off of the ice fast enough to not go back out that zone.

well.. basicly, lets say you have a 5 minute window after someone dies to reanimate them before serious complications happen. (like brain trauma AKA human potted plant)

the process to get you off the ice takes considerably longer than that window, in which time the brains pretty much fail.

Death was an American death metal band from Orlando, Florida, founded in 1983 by guitarist and vocalist Chuck Schuldiner. Death is considered to be one of the most influential bands in heavy metal and a pioneering force in death metal.[2] Its debut album, Scream Bloody Gore, has been widely regarded as the first death metal record,[3] while the band's driving force, Chuck Schuldiner, is acknowledged as the originator of extreme metal.[1][4] The band ceased to exist after Schuldiner died of brain cancer in December 2001, but remains an enduring metal brand.

that is death.
