WHY AMD?

wlaro

Because there's no point in it for most people, unless they're watercooling. And then you can still find a card with a compatible block, more than likely.

sneaky surprise, AMD actually doesnt make their reference cards, the sapphire folks mentioned a while back they're actually the manufacturer for AMD's "reference" cards.

hence why they're usually the first ones to have their cards shipped, are at the bottom of the price pool, and are AMD exclusive (no nvidia)

Erm because a laptop with 2 graphics cards and 3 hard drive bays inside is not powerful? considering its from 2012

it was THE highest performing gaming laptop at the time

well, honestly, i've considered one.

then the local store shared a story they faced with a previous sale.

- power brick by itself is heavier than most laptops on the market.

- the laptop itself is very bulky and heavy

- if you dont put them on a table or similar hard surface.. they catch fire.

Pair them with an AMD gpu... it was a match made in heaven.

Speaking of which...

The 13 and 15" are very functional  and compact laptops with either a 960m or 980m in a  decent chassis with excellent thermals

Hell the 15" has crazy battery life too, 12 hours idle, 7 hours 30 wifi surfing!!! oh and a freaking 980m!!!

1.not true.

2.true in terms of weight.

3.false, but I had to use a cooling pad after about a year or two to keep it from thermal throttling.

Coming from five years of ownership of an M11x R2, and a grandfather with two M17xs. I don't think the larger laptops have the thermal issue.

in all seriousness. yes, at a certain point they were by far the most powerful laptop. but theres more to a laptop than power.

like the ability to carry it...

i'm loyal to nvidia for habit and ease of use.

i 100% understand i'm not getting my share of bang/buck, but it'd rather pay a bit extra to have all my machines run nvidia, offering me the same configuration options.

(ps: my only amd card refuses to connect to my TV properly, and refuses to do vsync. if it'd do those two, i'd still use it today, even though its reaching the 4 year mark)

Setting the card on fire also makes it look pretty... What's your point? That's pretty much what a reference cooler does anyway.

Am the only one who dislikes amd?  :P i personally believe nvidia is way better.....

Welcome to the forums! Generally around here most people own Nvidia but want AMD to succeed due to the fact that if they die, there won't be any competition. Also, Nvidia is kinda being a dick by doing things like Vram-gate and gameworks controversies. In the past few months, AMD has improved their graphics lineup significantly, and now beat every Nvidia card at every price point, except the 980 TI.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.

Microsoft Apple Valve Google Facebook Oculus HTC AMD Intel Nvidia

I'm using this data to judge this site's biases so people can post in a more objective way.
