Hi LTT,

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN32J5205-32-Inch-1080p-Smart/dp/B00U9U8RZQ/ref=zg_bs_1266092011_9

if i would buy some useful tech for my parents, it would be this smart tv, so my parents could watch their series on a big screen and use with me and my sister netflix, so they can rest from work without having to search for years a good thing to watch.

Happy christmas to all of you

My roommate could really use a tablet to watch videos or read downloadable comics on while he is out with his sister or mother. He constantly gets coerced to go with them whenever they want to go shopping and he basically has nothing to do but sit in the car and wait for them to finish. It would be cool if he had a tablet or laptop for those mobile moments when he is away from the desktop PC.

Thanks Linus for this opportunity.

I would like gift my grandma a brand new TV but im nearly finishing college so I cant but this is the perfect opportunity to give something to her without breaking the bank. Shes not techie at all and at the 78 she still wants to learn how to use a computer or mobile phone but since those are too small for her (poor eyesight) so a brand new smart TV would be the best way to start her in the tech world. I know she likes to watch after long days of work a big tv would benefit her so she wouldnt have to sit so close to our tv at home.

I still live with my parents and we all could use a google onhub router. My mom could put parental controls on it and it will be a lot more reliable that the one we have right now.

Also wanted to throw in a magnetic phone holder for my dads car he has this broken one that his phone always falls out of and is held up by double sided tape. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00PGJWYJ0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1449163736&sr=8-1π=SY200_QL40&keywords=magnetic+phone+holder&dpPl=1&dpID=4167mLTsk%2BL&ref=plSrch

This is for my girlfriend. She carries all her books/manga with her when we go on long trips. This tablet/laptop hybrid will save her the "packing trouble" and me the "carrying trouble". :D Thanks for the opportunity LMG!

I would give (and setup of course) a WD 4TB My Cloud EX2 NAS to my family.

I'll be going to university soon so all the movies & TV they stream from my PC won't be available for much longer.

This would solve that.

Really nice way to give back to the community, thanks LMG.

A Chromebook for my mum, she's currently using an archaic Macbook which is barely even functional as a Facebook machine, which is what she primarily uses it for and why a Chromebook would be perfect for her.

http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-CB35-B3340-Chromebook-Celeron-HD-Screen/dp/B00N99FXIS/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449164302&sr=1-1&keywords=chromebook&refinements=p_n_feature_eighteen_browse-bin%3A8626222011%2Cp_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A9647486011

After a bit of research that seems to be one of the better Chromebooks under $300!

Thanks LTT, and keep up the brilliant videos!

I would probably give my parents one of those 4K LG Curved OLED TVs to my parents, because they are still using an outdated 32" 1080p TV thats pretty thick, and they have access to all the nice high quality 1440p or 4K videos that they would normally watch, but they don't have the tech to watch it in all its glory. They also don't have any smart features on the TV, which isn't great because they are still using a 1st gen Chromecast, which can only go up to 1080p This TV would solve all their problems with quality issues. Also I would give them decent stereo speakers along with that.

I would give my parents a hero+ to replace their old analog camera and record their journeys.

I already got them a pc and they started working with it. Now it's time to let them enjoy digital photos and recordings.

One tech present that had alot of success a couple years back was a chrome cast, but it isn't on amazon anymore :(

Thanks LTT, greet idea!

My mom is a physical therapist, and after every visit, she had to fill out a ton of paperwork. Her job gave her an ipad 3 with a data plan, which was awesome, but she had to work with spreadsheets and PDFs, then be able to upload them to a website.

In a discusting display of the Apple closed ecosystem, she had to use 4 different apps just to be able to upload a spreadsheet from excel, to dropbox, then somehow get it to the website. The constant service calls were terrible for both of us.

The small company heard what she was doing and had me come in and show them what to do. They were impressed, but it was a giant spider web of confusement. At the time, Windows tablets weren't very mainstream, but I offered up a Nexus tablet as a cheaper and more streamlined alternative. The boss was an Apple fanboy and said, "No. Apples are better devices."

A couple years later, she had gotten the process down, but it still frustrated her because it took hours out of her day and she was always working really late. Windows had just started offering Windows 8 for free for small tablets, and the devices were getting very cheap. I went to Walmart, of all places, and got a super cheap ($180 USD) Nextbook tablet with included keyboard (link below).

She absolutely loved it. She was even amazed how you could type by writing in cursive and it would convert it to text, since she's a show typist. No more were the convoluted excel solutions and weird dropbox routes, she could just do it like she could on a laptop! She used her uber expensive iPad as a hotspot lol. Eventually the company let her give back the iPad and use a FiOs hotspot. She lost about an hour and a half of paperwork time, and we were able to see her more. Probably my favorite gift I've ever given anyone.

Its gone down $40 USD from when I got it. It's a simple Intel atom processor tablet. Great for windows apps and simple productivity. I played league at 6 fps though.

My mum has taken over the local resident's committee and is constantly typing away on her laptop. She gets really frustrated when she needs it because of the ultra slow boot and program opening times. I've been thinking for a while about getting her an ssd to replace the stock mechanical drive in her laptop. I really want to help her and make her less stressed all the time but i've never actually purchased it because of the high prices (i'm just getting out of school and haven't got a job yet). I found this one on amazon for just under 300 USD which would fill her needs perfectly and hopefully make is easier on her!

I'd like to thank you for this fantastic opportunity and wish you happy Christmas holidays from Belgium!

Voilà ;)

Asus Transformer Tablet (picking  refurbished one because I don't Mind and its cost effective)

For my girlfriend, who is on transit a lot, and watches videos on her little phone.

I'd get a moto g for my oldest sister. Right now she uses an old, broken phone, but she can't afford a new one. She can't do anything with her phone now, even sending text-messages and calling doesn't work properly (and I know how frustrating that phone is, as i used before giving it to her (and I got it from a friend)).

I would love to give my girlfriend a tablet laptop convertible. she loved the original nexus 7 that i got her but that is dead now and she wants a device that she can use for college.

she still loves the tablet form factor and since the surface pro is a little of the price range and this comes with a keyboard dock, I think this will make her very happy this holiday season.

Asus Transformer Book T100TA

http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Transformer-T100TA-DH11T-CA-Touchscreen-BayTrail-T/dp/B00PSPAD4U/ref=sr_1_45?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449134018&sr=1-45&refinements=p_n_availability%3A1248800011%2Cp_74%3A10000-29999

there is a model that's on sale for less than 300 but the non sale price is more. so if its not changed i think this is a better value.

My father wants a smartphone! But that's is the worst idea.. Because his intrests in technical stuff is zero zip nada... He can't even send a text message and when he sits on the computer he typing it sounds like a typewriter, he is used to this he must hit them hard so a letter can be visible!

So i buy him a Doro flipphone so can at least use the mobile to call. Sice the Doro have so much less fuctions than a "scratching post" it will have better battery time!

I would get my mother an nVidia Shield Tablet. @ $199 and add the controller on for $59.99.

My mother was/is an old school gamer. She bought an Atari when I was born (1980) and I grew up learning to love games.  She was some kind of savant with Tetris on the Nintendo. She is the only person I've ever personally witness get to level 99 on Tetris on the NES.

She went on to master Bonks Adventure and at some point we upgraded to the Genesis and she went crazy with Chuck Rock!

Now days she is happy to get some time with her Facebook games but with my sister and her 4 kids living with her, after buying her an iMac, my poor mother rarely gets any time to use her computer as the grandchildren monopolize every computer in the house. We got my mom a laptop but it's severely aged and I've replaced the keyboard on it twice.

What I want to do is get her a tablet capable of playing not only her Facebook games, but also capable of playing emulators that'll give her back those old games she use to play. And, if she feels like, she can even play them on the big TV. I think the Shield would be the best option for her.

Soundbars aren't ideal, but they're better than the onboard audio in the smart TV I got my mom a few years back. She sits about 15 feet away from the tv, and has to crank the volume way past distortion just to hear it. It isn't the sexiest solution, but she's old and just flat out wouldn't appreciate anything better.

A GTX 960 for my sister because she is always complaining about low FPS. She currently plays LoL with her PC which has quite ancient GT 240 :(

Also, it would be nice to gift a new PSU with the graphics card if budget/rules allow.
