What does Intel offer that AMD don't?

Go to solution Solved by Imakuni,

Hi guys.. I've seen a lot of videos but yet not found out why Intel processors cost more than AMD. I mean if it cost more then surly it should provide something more too..

Better performance (in various different areas), lower power consumption and better features / chipsets (however you prefer to call it).

Oh, and their CPUs also have iGPUs if you need them in a pinch.

Performance...

Do you expect them to provide free pizza and drink too or something?

So AMD is worth the cost?

if you cant afford Intel - and can settle for the relativley low perofrmance offered by AMD cpu's then yes.

This is a baseless generalization, which really needs to die.

For example, the FX-6300 tends to be in the i3 ballpark while being $10 less. Or the 860K which is the SAME (typically) price as the G3258. And performs better in most cases than that CPU.

actually, all intel core CPUs have better single core performance than AMD CPUs

how many cores each CPU has can change the overall performance, but its a fact that even a dual core pentium has better core performance than a 8350

I'm not denying that. But not only is it blown WAAAY out of proportion, where it counts MOST (in general web browsing usage), it's not a hindrance to get an AMD CPU.

well, it actually is in gaming

there are many benchmarks that show a huge performance decrease even with a 8350...

Keep in mind that this forum HATES AMD. Like they fucking despise it.

Keep in mind, an 8320 will run you under $200 CAD, and while it's not the best card on the market, it's still QUITE A GOOD BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. If I could afford to swap over to intel right now, I would, but my 8320 has served me outstandingly. My setup can still play AAA titles, and even drive multiple games on 5930x1080

Gaming Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x   |  GPU: Asus ROG STRIX 2080 SUPER Advanced (2115Mhz Core | 9251Mhz Memory) |  Motherboard: Asus X570 TUF GAMING-PLUS  |  RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3600MHz 16GB  |  PSU: Corsair RM850x  |  Storage: 1TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, 250GB Samsung 840 Evo, 500GB Samsung 840 Evo  |  Cooler: Corsair H115i Pro XT  |  Case: Lian Li PC-O11

Peripherals:

Monitor: LG 34GK950F  |  Sound: Sennheiser HD 598  |  Mic: Blue Yeti  |  Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum  |  Mouse: Logitech G502

Laptop:

Asus ROG Zephryus G15

Of course it can, higher resolutions put a heavier load on the gpu not the cpu.

I'm aware. I guess I was just trying to say it's not as shitty as like 80% of the people on the forum make it out to be.
