If you plan on gaming and you want to get the most lifespan, do what ever you can to drop down to an i5 and get a GTX 980ti.

EDIT: Just tried doing that and ew, cad shit is so expensive rn.

Define "last" and what you expect in 6-7 years. I'm not trying to be a troll or smart butt here. But what are you expecting to use the machine for in 6-7 years?

The build you've put together here is something I'm envious of, having just started working on an 4th Gen i7 build myself. I'm envious, but see no reason to upgrade from my 4th Gen CPU simply because it's 2-3 years old now. I still know people running 1st Gen i7 systems that are completely happy with the performance of their machines, and have only done minor upgrades in 6 years of ownership.

What I'm trying to say is if you want your build to last in terms of being a solid powerhouse for a good 5 years and then some, you've got all the right parts in your build. But a fastest bang-for-buck system is always going to exist, especially if liquid nitrogen cooling makes it mainstream by 2020.

So yes, IMO your build is rock solid and should last you at least 5 years. Unless you're the type who has the impulse (or munnies :D) to upgrade every single year. Maybe replace the graphics card in 5 years, and add more RAM depending on where we are with operating systems. Otherwise I'd love to see a build log from you on this one.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month
Laptop: Dell XPS 15 9560 (the real 15" MacBook Pro that Apple didn't make) Tablet: iPad Mini 5 | Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 10.1
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Why an i5 and 980ti? I've heard tons of people say 980ti's are just a waste of money

Trust me, I have a horrid laptop right now with an E1-2500 APU so I don't have impulses. I just want this build to last awhile because I don't have a steady source of income and I can't afford to upgrade often. I'll be playing some light AAA games (Racing, sports, CS:GO) Maybe some FPS' when I get older  but mostly just those an MMO's for now. So that's why I want it to last a while. I don't mind turning settings down so that's not a problem if that helps.
