R9 390 or Gtx 970

I currently have an fx 6350, gtx 960, and 8gb of ram but i was looking to upgrade this christmas but wasnt sure to go with the 970, or r9 390? Also if my cpu will bottleneck

those. I will be playing most likely at 1080p for now but will be getting a 1440p monitor soon so the better frames at the resoulution would be better. Thanks!

I plan to do an FX 6300 and R9 390 but I know it will bottleneck. Buy GPU first and then the new CPU and Mobo

390 performs better, 970 uses less power, runs cooler, and makes less noise

your CPU bottlenecks both

Don't listen to these AMD fanboys.

GTX 960 > R9 380 and GTX 970 > R9 390. Get the 970 -- you won't regret it.

I am an Nvidia fan because they make efficient reliable cards and the 970 is a great choice because of the facts that it

-Creates less heat output

-Uses less energy

-Quiet fans (on ACX fan cards)

With its similar price tag and similar performance I feel that it would make a great addition to your build

Not when compared to a 390. My Nitro 390 runs 10c cooler than my Vaporx 290. And the Nitro 390 is quieter than a MSI 970, proven in bench tests done by Tech Showdown. But thanks for playing.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

You need to watch the video again and knowing that the Msi GTX 970 is 4 Degrees cooler than the 390 when it is also pushing air through 3 fans and creating an extra decibel of noise I would have to pronounce you wrong on this topic so ill leave you the link to the video

Please next time before you try to disturb the peace of the internet, KNOW THE FACTS

AGAIN I would recommend the Gtx 970

LOL, yep. You weren't lying, you're a fanboy.

Watch the video yourself, the Nitro was quieter because it didn't have coil whine and kicked the shit out of the 970. The 390 also won that showdown. Thanks for posting the video responsible for me buying a Nitro though :)

If anyone asks you never saw me.

i've been going over all these different threads about this topic... i'm considering the same question myself. i'm doing as much research as i can, but i haven't actually built my own PC yet, so i guess i don't have any first hand experience yet. but as far as i can tell, this discussion is pretty much just Pepsi vs. Coke, right? i mean all-in-all they are both extremely similar? is that a fair statement?

is the basic idea that (on a scale from 1 to 10) one of these cards is an 8 and the other card is an 8 and a half, and people just can't come to a consensus about which is which?

please correct me if i'm wrong... i'm here to learn.
