How loud is your PC?

IMPERIUS

hi,

I wanted to make this post for the lolz more or less, to give you a general idea if your pc is loud or not compared to the LTT community.

Anyways, please post your specs and how you measured it. I use "sound meter" app for my phone and measured it mic 2cm away from the case. Results were about 54db on idle! Haven't yet measured on load.

Using intel stock cooler, sapphire r9 280, enthoo pro

While I don't have a fancy dB tester, it's loud. I have x2 CM 120mm red led fans, and they go up to like 2100rpm, and they are loud! I can only run them at 30% or 100%. No inbetween as the fan controller I have makes them whine at anything between 30-100. So when I'm doing resource intense tasks, it sounds like a jet.

That's all you need to know. It's a beast.

Pretty much silent at idle, and as loud as I can get it without it bothering me while gaming with my headset on.

With the phone right in front of my R5 it shows 32db with the door closed at idle, and 35db with the door open at idle.. With my case fans maxed out and gpu fans at 50% 40db door closed, with the door open 45db

Noice. I might get a define S. it is a bit louder than the R5 since bugger window but still much better than my current system

Contrary to my belief, RE: Corsair's specs page, my Obsidian 750D and complete complement of AF120/AF140 fans keep my system pretty obscenely loud. :(

I'm using a Oneplus sitting on top of the case and my system is too quiet for the phone mic to pick it up. It shows 1dB. I used the app Sound Meter by Abc Apps.

Pretty loud, Hard drive vibration through the whole rig. coupled with a ton of moving parts (5 Case fans, 2 Fans on the 212 Evo, though the old 6950/6970 fans i have on my 7970ghz are decently quiet enough, Turning my PSU fan off makes no difference, and i like the idea of having it really nice and chilly)

Using those smartphone apps for measuring the sound level are usually extremely inaccurate. Also measuring from 2cm away from the case is useless because

1. At that distance the direction from which you measure the sound will make a huge difference and

2. I don't think anyone ever sits 2cm away from their case, so this isn't in the least amount representative of real use.

No nobody sits 2cm away, but imo those measurements are more accurate than "measure it from where you sit" because one could have their tower right next to them, other one under their desk 3m away

The sound measurement is usually taken at 1 meter distance to compare results.

At only 2cm you are dealung with a lot of side effects that void the result of the measurement.
