Critique my Gaming & Video Editing Build

NavXIII

Windows XP and 7 have a 16GB memory limit in the Home Premium edition. Windows 8 & 10 support up to 128GB in the standard edition.

If you want 32GB of memory, consider Kingston HyperX Fury Black 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory.

Quad channel memory will make a difference in memory intensive operations. It doesn't seem to affect gaming noticeably but rendering and some editing functions do benefit.

Didn't notice that. Adjusted once more.

Ya'll see anywhere that I could cut some costs? Would buying parts over in the US be cheaper compared to Canada?

I could go with cheaper ram, cheaper mobo, GTX 970 (which would be 1070) instead of 980Ti (1080Ti).

Buying in the US will not make a difference once the $ exchange is factored in.

There are a number of things that can be done to reduce costs without seriously impacting performance. Less expensive, but very good cpu cooler. Less expensive but good quality psu. Less expensive, but good quality hdd. For more significant savings one would have to move to a lower performance gpu. A GTX 980 might be a good compromise. But if additional savings are needed then an R9 390 would be a good choice.

Adjusted it once more. Tried to get it sub $3000.

The Seasonic M2II Evo 750W is a much better psu and has more than sufficient capacity to handle a second gpu.

CX-800M is not bad, but not terribly good either, http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=427.

Swapped the H100i to the H110i again (if I put it in the front, it seems like there's a lot more space there). Swapped 4TB drive to 2 2TB drive (cost like $50 more). You think Raid 0 is a good idea on HDDs? My brother had a bad WD Black 2 years in. I also added a few other drives I had laying around. No clue with what to do with them.

Raid 0 should be fine, as you have a 4TB external HDD to back up your data.

Nikon D7000 for photo, Canon C100 for video
