Max Network Speed?
Ok so I have a question referring towards optimization. My Isp gives me 15 down and 2 up (mbps) and if I go to a speed test website it says i have that speed. So this is where my question comes in why in apps such as steam, uplay, origin, etc. do I only get 1.8-2 down (mbps)? Is my network properly maximized? I have a direct Cat5E connection to my router my mother board says my Lan adapter does 100 mbps but yet my speeds in these apps are so low. Just wondering if there are any tips to getting more speed out of my network.
-Thanks
Your ISP gives you 15 Megabits per second down and 2 Megabits per second up (Mbps).
You are getting 1.8-2 Megabytes per second down on apps such as steam (MBps).
They're two different things. There are 8 Megabits in 1 Megabyte. So if your ISP were giving you 16 Megabits per second, Steam would show you as downloading at 2 Megabytes per second (because 16 Megabits = 2 Megabytes).
