Anyone watch/play BF3 on a competitive skill level? My favorite player is Xfactor, he used to play in rivaL. I wouldn't say I play BF3 competitively, but I do utilize things that pro players use (eg. being revived with your primary gun out).

when I play with a skilled squad on teamspeak, I play competitive, If I play with my friends, we just play and then someone starts teamkilling and chaos ensues :P

but I would like to see E-sports as a big deal when it comes to BF4, just look at RivalxFactor, he makes the game as if it's starcraft 2

Narh, I was always pretty bad at FPS multilayer but a bit of a BF3 binge lately means I get KDs of ~1.5 instead of 0.5. Getting a proper mouse might of helped too.

Some people are just way too good. Consistent, reflex head shots with Holo sights on bolt action rifles kinda good. Or spend 90% of your time in a Jet doing passes with Rockets and winning dogfights within a 30seconds, but are yet to get more than 3 services stars on anything else kinda good. Can't compete.

Level design in BF3 is layed out in such a way you have to rely to heavily on personal skill (aim) and less on tactics.

That's why the game doesn't have a big esports presents, Which is unfortunate because if they wanted to have a game played for a long time like bf2 was then they need to appeal more to a competitive audience.

Until last december I was active bf3 competive player on lower levels. Our clan played in Nordic League (BNL) conquest and some randoms inf pcws. After last season I was active, clan dispanded and players are part of different finnish teams now.

BF3 isn't really aimed for esports style. Level design (or lack of it) makes rules more important than they should be. In standard 8v8 conq map is small size, so with no rules there would be all vehicles only and no infantry. I don't know if current rules on ESL prevent using all available vehicles but when we played they allowed all vehicles and just some perks and guns were prohibited. With BNL rules part of infantry is important also. In BNL only one tank/jet from base is allowed at any point of time. Meaning that there will be 3-5 infs running around instead of 2-3. Those rules also prevent air being too dominant. With evenly matched teams air shouldn't make any difference.

I don't think map design takes away too much of tactics. I've seen several variants in any map.

I want to start playing competitive bf4 but im not sure how to get noticed

Find local forum dedicated to game. PlanetBattlefield was at some point and I know there is some centered at AU. They'll have section where clans and players search each other. Better ones have tryouts, bit lower level might let you play straight. And then there's battlelogs forums, but since they aren't localized, it'll be long before finding suitable clan from there.

Xfactor isn't even that good as a competitive player "infantry" there's a lot of better players like Steeler and troyeh. Here are there youtube channels http://www.youtube.com/user/xSteeLer7?feature=g-subs-u and http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEIDg_3eW6nGtYowSg6_jJw

Just because someone has alot of YouTube subscribers doesn't make them the best player out there.

Not hating bro, just don't get how non-competitive players think he is the best comp player out there...

Edit: not saying he's bad.

Comp in BF3? please do not make me laugh ;)

Also, X-Factor is not the be all end all, i have seen plenty and played against plenty from others in nXs/-cM..

I am not a comp player, but i see the point of it, and the fun that can be had from it, BF3 is a terrible game for it though.

Hopefully BF4 brings back what is missing.

@Recon-UK, its not terrible. Its hard to control. Gameplay is actually really fun in comp scene but all guns, attachements and amount of vehicles makes rules more importanrt than they should.

I think BF3 is a great game do not get me wrong, just not suitable for pro level gaming, this is why we see so many pub stompers in BF3, as comp is a joke in BF3.

I have my own fun against comp players though, i think i caught one with some guys from fnatic :P (TDM canals)

I do not claim to be amazing as i am not, but i have a good time :D

The TDM Canals part is against those guys (only one was wearing his fnatic tags though)

Does BF3 have a official competitive circuit with registered teams who are ranked in accordance to their performance in tournaments? How big are the teams and what game types do they usually play?

Never watched and competitive battlefield and was just curious.

ESL had at some point few leagues running. Now infantry is most common with 5 or 6 per team. I used to play conquest at Nordic League. Seems like last season had some other eu teams participating also. Problem with bf3 comp is lack of spectator mode (official that is) and recording. Now streaming and commentating is pretty much useless. As for lan tournaments, they gather teams on small scale since lack of sponsor support. DH has arranged few bigger tournaments.

Did some low bracket ESL and clan matches but i just stopped playing the game really, suppression is one of the main things and hopefully with BF4 its fixed and we can have some kind of competitive scene with the spectator.
