Wait for BF4, Bf3 is dead.

No, tons of people still play it, and the recent influx of humble bundle players has helped.

Humble Bundle has brought more newbies to block stairs and res me in front of enemies in public. I highly doubt many of them will consider comp when bf4 with better features is almost here.
