Motherboard/CPU Question

Go to solution Solved by Whitestar,

No the MSI 970 Gaming motherboard does NOT support cpu's that are 200watt or above and the FX9590 has a TDP of 220watt

Ok so I am thinking about getting a fx 9590 and put it on a msi 970 Mobo. Would this work??? And I do know its a amd CPU sorry I am not using intel

You say you aren't using intel, but you should be using intel. Why in the world would you get that piece of crap cpu? An i3 would perform better in some single threaded applications..

The 9590 draws an insane amount of power and there is a fair risk of blowing up your motherboard if you don't use one with really beefy power delivery.

Sig under construction.

Use pcpartpicker to find out.

Dont think it works. Not sure tho.

In theory it should work. In practice though, that CPU needs a waaay better motherboard.

Would not recommend upgrading your FX 8370 to that FX 9590. The 9590 is a basically a overclocked 8320 I think and the 8370 is too if I recall correctly.

Just had a look at your system... don't "upgrade" to the 9590 from the 8350. You'd see pretty much NO performance increase. Also, you have a Corsair Builder PSU, you'd blow your system up in like a day.

Could you elaborate as to why you'd want a 9590? No hater; just curious :P
