Which 980 Ti out of these?

Hakiroto

I need help choosing a 980 Ti for my i7-6700K / Asus Z170 Pro Gaming / R5 (or Define S) / Kraken X61 build. Here's the shortlist (in no particular order) with the prices here in Germany.

  • MSI 6G (669€)
  • Strix (740€)
  • Gigabyte G1 (679€)
  • ZOTAC AMP! Extreme (738€)
  • EVGA (688€)

I know a lot of this comes down to personal preference or familiarity with a specific brand but some advice would be nice. I know all models of the 980 Ti will be great but seeing as there can be quite a price difference I figured I'd see what you all thought. Thanks in advance!

The MSI 6G is one good card and so is the Gigabyte one. Pick the one whom aesthetic fits your case and the rest of your components.

Good point. I just grabbed those as they were on the site I was looking at (mindfactory.de). I can add the EVGA 980 Ti to the list as I just saw it for 688€. Would you still say the MSI?

I'm an EVGA fan for life, so no I'd switch my vote for EVGA.

I'd say EVGA in all seriousness. However on the rig I'm getting I'm buying the Zotac Amp Extremes because heh. 1.25GHz woop woop POWAR

Thanks for the answers so far. What's interesting is that it looks like every card apart from the Strix has been recommended at least once. Funnily, the Strix was my original choice but I wanted to ask here as I'm been out of PC gaming for many years and only picked that one based off a single review I read. I'm very much open to suggestions and would – like any person pricing up a high-end build – like to save money where possible but if I was fine with the Strix price would you still recommend the other brands? Anyway, thanks again; this is such a great forum and I'm happy to be getting back into this community.

^ Haha. Well, I was originally looking at the Strix and the AMP! Extreme isn't much difference in price. Hmm. I've never had any experience with Zotac before so I was a little hesitant to consider one of their high-end cards in the first place. I wonder what their customer service is like.

^ Is that model better than the other cards based simple on out-of-the-box performance or other things as well such as cooling? That and the Strix seem to have pretty similar reviews.
