Running 2666 memory on skylake will require a Z170 board. So take that benchmark for what it is, an interesting set of data. But nothing worth considering when building.

I'm not sure how this related to the i5-6600K with faster memory. Maybe there is something that can be said for that platform. 

 

But I think most people buying an overclockable platform go for faster memory already, so there's nothing new there.

 

And yeah, Intel is really being greedy. Also locking E3 Xeons away from consumer boards, unlike the 1231.

also i know the motherboard wont support 3000Mhz speed but the ram is only $50 which is the cheapest ram you can get and its perfectly fine ram

i wouldn't classify it as a dual core processor since it doesn't have the stuttering problems practically every dual core has and it has hyperthreading so it has 4 threads

True, but that's not what I am getting at if that makes since? Idk I think it is more of a personal preference since I only use my computer to play games 20% of the time

IMHO people make really crappy arguments about RAM speeds not mattering, a lot of the time you can get faster speed at the same latency for almost no increase in price, and they say "it's only a few FPS, why bother?"

 

Well, if it's only a few FPS, and only costs 5$ extra, why not do it lol?

You can find 2600-3000 mhz ddr4 kits for pretty cheap nowadays and they usually even have the same CL as the crappy cheapo 2133 kits.

 

Idk maybe it's because I don't mind spending an extra $20 on RAM, but I have no problem spending those extra few bucks for better benchmark performance and a tiny increase in FPS, even if I don't notice the FPS increase.

 

Digital Foundry was smart and tested ram speeds with low end processors and a highend GPU to force a cpu bottleneck. Most hardware testing sites would just put highend everything when testing the ram to not introduce other variables into the tests, and that methodology has now been shown to be a failure for testing ram. But those were the results people were referring to when saying ram speed doesn't matter for gaming. Now that we can see we were all wrong it definitely throws a wrinkle into building bang for your buck systems.
