i3 + 970 for now

In a few weeks i5 + 390x/980

And they (the GPUs) scale surprisingly well, I must say.

I am using an I5 4690k OC to 4.5 GHz with a GTX 970. i should note i bought by 90 before the 390 existed.

in the past i have used a 660, a 4GB 270x and even a 4GB 770 for like a day. (long story)

for past CPUs i had the fx 4300 and 8320, i have come a long way

In my main rig I have a G3258 and a 7950, and in my rendering rig I have a Q6600 and the onboard graphics for now (plan on getting a 9800GT or something somewhere along the line).

Well in the cpu market they are so far behind I really don't see them digging themselves out, unless zen is amazing which seems unlikely given their claimed improvement, price point it might be viable but if it can't compete with an i5 does it really matter?
