AdBlock for Chrome has been sold and will join the Acceptable Ads program used by AdBblock Plus, which allows some ads, but reportedly eliminates annoying ones.

This is interesting. I suppose this move was more of a moral decision; one to help make adblock seem like less of a hostile extension to producers and content creators.

I won't believe it if this isn't a repost.

This has been known for a while yes?

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Regardless that this is a repost, I honestly have left adblock disabled on Youtube and frankly I've forgotten to turn it back on. I'm not keen the ads but whatever. As long as I can skip them, I guess it's not so bad.

for some damn reason people think its the only adblocking software in the world

they just use  lists that are available to anyone

use ublock origin its opensource and under gpl

its also much more efficient and easier to use

I myself saw this popup. Its good to see that they have the option to disable it-though on LTT and the Youtube videos I have it disabled.

I don't really mind this. I don't mind seeing ads if they aren't intrusive.

My Adblock Plus on the Maxthon browser (included free with Maxthon) still hasn't shown any ads. Is it only for Chrome?

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I went ahead and left the "non intrusive" ads enabled, but man they are terrible(damn near take up 1/3 of the page). I'm going to follow the all or nothing approach, with sites like LTT getting all ads and places I don't care about getting completely blocked.

Does acceptable ads mean ads that they get paid for not blocking them?

The fact that it is opensource is a bad thing companies can look at the code and easily make their ads bypass ublock

@Photonic

Whether the extension is or isn't OpenSource you can still bypass it by looking at the filters in action when an ad is blocked, you can them take actions to bypass it quite easily.

@Dezz

I doubt it will be all about money, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to apply to be included in their program for free.

how blocking works isnt a secret, ad blockers simply block a link from working

 u can easily bypass it but its too annoying to webmasters

google "anti adblock"

what good about it being GPL means they cant just "sell' it
