R9 295x2 -> the bullshit excuses ends now

I happen to own a R9 295x2, as some may know by now.

I also happen to be stupid enough to OVERCLOCK MY R9 295x2....

AND I ALSO HAPPEN TO HAVE ACCESS TO A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA.

 

So alot of you are crying about burning connectors and wires burning/melting/exploding/catching fire etc...

Which i have told you is BULLSHIT.

I have also, repeatedly, told you that the wires and connectors IS MORE THEN EFFING ADEQUATE TO HANDLE THE 500W POWER DRAW ASLONG AS THEY ARE SEATED PROPERLY.

 

What we can all agree on, is that the VRMs on my card will blow up LONG before my wires or connectors.

Disclaimer: My card is running a 7.5% overclock on the core and 150MHz overclock on the RAM (600MHz effectively)....So my already overkill R9 295x2 IS OVERCLOCKED

Tests where done after 5-6 minutes of Valley running in loop. case fans turned off for optimally terrible airflow. (usually i have a 200mm fan blowing fresh outside air directly onto my GPU from the side of my case). Naturally, measurements were done WITHOUT a side panel, because it is quite hard to get any good measurements through acrylic...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

you need atleast 90*c over several hours to melt plastic connectors at all... at 70*c they start to "dry out", but it would take years for them to dry out enough to disintergrate with normal usage.

You also have one of the highest fucking end PSUs on the market.

 

We never said it was an issue with great PSUs, at least I recognize that the issue is with older and lower end units. Ones that should still power an R9 295x2 fine but which might not have thick enough wires to sustain the power a 295x2 demands through the connectors it has. And no matter how you chalk it up, it's still violating the specification for those connectors.

they are ridiculously expensive.... the lower end ones wont have the ability to set multiple reference points like the camera i have does...

mine also feature manual focus, image file type selection (jpg, bmp and some proprietary shit), stores everything to an SD card and is in general a pretty rugged device... then again, it is meant for industrial purposes
