Help me pick between 2 graphics card

Hey guys i was just looking for helt to find me a good gpu and those 2 gpus being the MSI R9 390 or MSI Gtx 970 that is both good and could also match with my build if you want the specs of my build im gonna do in the soon future (1-3months) just ask and if i dont get the pc in about 1-3 months its gonna be in the summer.

My PSU is 650w EVGA G2 80+ gold efficiant and should i overclock both of them or just stay with normal clockpower

all other differences are personal preference. (they're priced identical in my area, like to the cent identical.)

-about same performance at 1080p  but lower in higher res

- so far less dx 12 performance

- decent overclockers

 

i own a 970 and not a 390 so i can only truly say stuff about the 970 and the 390 is based off of benchmarks and videos

Are you doing High Res stuff? If so the r9 380. But you should just get the R9 390 if heat and power isnt an issue

At 1080p quite a few games push 5-6GB of VRAM usage - I'd say 390 across the board

Are you doing High Res stuff? If so the r9 380. But you should just get the R9 390 if heat and power isnt an issue

I have my GTX 650ti OC 2GB running out of vRAM at 1024x768-4GB of vRAM is nothing to higher resolutions.

The r9 390 is way better, now, and 3 years from now! Also keep in mind, there are no such things as "more energy efficient" "more power draw" ONLY an fanboy would come up with such things haha.. With both cards you need a big PSU. No matter what rig you have, it is always better to have more power even if you don´t use it. There are such things as graphics cards more efficient than others, and ones that consume less power than another. As for the PSU, the R9 390 does need a bigger one-and its not perfect at 1080p and below.

Did it really? In that case, I wouldn't know what card to pick. Since they are pretty much similar, it would probably come down to what color you like

mantle is kinda 'dead'. it's remains live in the vulcan api now, and if we are lucky devs are switching from dx11 to vulcan instead of dx12

hmm.. I think I mentioned, it is always better to have a bigger PSU than the required for any part in your sistem! ..the thing with power draw is getting so old and stinky u.u ( an r9 390X will consume per year around $17/15€ while a GTX 970 $11/9.7€) So, you pay like nothing, amount of money that you don´t notice it BUT you do notice the amount of FPS of r9 390!
