How to mount a 2.5inch drive in a 3.5inch slot

Zvesda

So i have a nice little scorpio black meant for laptops but sadly my NZXT source has no slots for 2.5inch drives, could i just throw it on top of the power supply or strap it to the bottom of my case with electrical tape or something?

Here's an example of an adapter if your drive holders don't have 2.5" mounting holes built in place:

There should be holes in the drive trays for 2.5" drives. If not, you could use some velcro or double sided foam tape. Or a laptop drive enclosure, like I do.

They make drive adapters. I would personally use one of them so the drive can be cooled better.

Could i put it on top of my other hard drive right in front of the fans, i could get a little block to raise it an inch or two above for cooling

I'm going to be honest and say, once I used double sided sticky take to mount it to the bottom of the case..

Didn't have a adapter and was too lazy to get one.

Obviously, you shouldn't really do this.

That might work. Why doesnt it have places to mount 2.5in drives? most cases have holes on the bottom of the drive sled for SSDs which are the same size

Theoretically yes but it has to be securely mounted since it's a mechanical drive, and make sure to not short out the contacts on the PCB board so something like double stick foam tape would do the job.

If I had money for shipping I would send you an adapter lol. But you can easily jig it up with foam. Berkel put his in a sock and left it at the bottom of the chassis, try that. Watch out for static tho.
