Well it would be nice to have our own little thread.

 

I am more savvy with the Original XBOX mod scene, and some on PS2.

 

I modified a few XBOX's myself, using softmods, and even ventured into TSOP flashing and custom boot up logo's, IDE cable upgrades and stock cooling improvements.

 

Jack of all trades with these consoles.

 

 

The biggest reason for my XBOX mods was the use of component leads and outputting XBMC at 720p or 1080oi native, plus some games run in a solid 720p/1080i, everything else is 480p with a massive upgrade in picture quality.

 

These are externally shot images of component in use on my TSOP flashed XBOX.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My prized possession... it looks completely standard in the rare Crystal case (outside of UK these are rare as hell)

 

But it's an entirely different beast under the hood and is actually a version 1 from the date the XBOX launched, it however has been changed slightly to fit in the Crystal 1.6 chassis, and has the updated controller ports as there is a cable length difference between the versions.

 

It also sports superior cooling.

My PS2 slim was modded with FMCB purely because i could use a USB thumb drive to play games extending the life span of my PS2's laser, which is the first thing to die on them.

 

I own 2 PS2's, 1 original Fat SCPH-39003 and a slim modded with FMCB 7000 series.

 

I extensively worked on my slim as these things get really hot, i stripped it completely and applied Thermal Paste where i could and completely cleaned it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I also own other consoles but have never modified them as there is no use in it.

The XBOX and PS2 give advantages outside of piracy, including emulation of old systems.

I am not a console modder by any stretch, but I was thinking about installing Linux on my Wii through homebrew just because.

It's a cut down Pentium III and Nvidia GeForce GPU.

I'm not a "modder" in the sense that I don't aim to do it regularly, but years ago, I soft-modded my Wii with homebrew and a bunch of other shit. 

 

I'd have to learn how to do it again if I needed to.   

 

I've got a USB hard drive connected with over 120 games on it.  It's pretty handy.

Seeing that first picture of the inside of the xbox brought back memories of soldering the d0 connection to make the onboard memory writable *shudder*

I once held a mod together with taped pennies, just to keep it stable long enough to write the new bios, that one was non reversable

I have a 60 or 80gb xbox with a switch i ripped out of an burnt out power supply to flip the bios between custom and stock, and i have a button i added into the original headset plugin thingy to power it on and off. i only stopped using it as an xbmc box a few years ago when i get netflix, and even then the computer i switched it out for opens xbmc, well, kodi now, on startup. I don't have anything newer then an xbox 360, and i havn't modded that, don't plan on it, back then it was a 'need' as a kid to play games but not have money to support buying them.

Idk if this counts as a mod, but i plated my 360 slim with 24k gold as well as a controller to match, i upgraded to a 1tb ssd hard drive and rapid fire modded my controller

Gold was free, but its not alot by weight, maybe 100-150 worth of actual gold.

i started collecting old consoles and handhelds august last year and then cleaned them (wouldn't recommend to start with a ps2 fat), but over time i started to have a gamegear, original xboxes, ps3's i took apart to never put them back and to this day i am still depressed about it, later i started collecting amiibo and got into pc hardware and now i'm starting to get back, even if i am mainly collecting games atm, also youtuber adam koralik got me started (questioning if i should of used windolene in the first place)

I used to mod original Xbox, never got around to mess with the TSOP though, I mostly did softmods and I changed the hard drive of my xbox, good times.
