Hot off the presses! ET3 in the UK. Thank you GIS + Map specialist licensee Shyla Liebscher for our your hard work in coordination with COO Nick Garzilli. Comments are welcome. Can you imagine getting from London to Glasgow in 30 minutes. We can. The high speed backbone will be underground the whole way FYI

What do you guys think of this? Personally i may have screamed like a little girl.

The only thing now is, it'll take me 3 hours to get to glasgow, and half an hour to get to london... I live 50~ miles from Glasgow.

The idea is great and all, but if it gets built in 20 years, well...that is 20 years you will have to wait.

No idea when it's supposed to start, but yeah. Still exciting though! The last time our rail system was updated was from steam to electric essentially. So it's overdue :D

SI FTW!

Km/h is not an si unit. m/s is the si unit for speed.

m/s is not an SI unit either ...

Both are derived from SI units though and are mentioned in the SI ;)

h ... SI unit multiple (3600 * s)

km ... SI unit multiple (1000 * m)

Maybe but if you live anywhere that isn't in the South or the North West then it will take you longer. Although 30 minutes is nice.

you can derive miles from meters. meters and seconds are the si base units.

Why does it take You 3 hours to Travel 50 miles, a bus could do that in an hour

no you can't. Also km isn't derived from m, but i rather a combination of the prefix k and die SI unit m, which are both part of the SI.

h is not an SI unit, but is an accepted unit in the SI, to be used within the SI.

m/s is derived from SI units.

IMHO my statement 'SI FTW' therefore stays valid, as I never said 'SI units FTW' but rather referred to the SI in general. :P

If you multiple meters by 0.000621371192 you get miles, derived. this whole what is and what isn't Si is very vague. this generally happens when you get an international standard.
