Are these speakers good?

spwath

I found some HH Scott S-10 speakers used for 30$, and in great condition.

Are they any good?

I tried to find info, not much luck.

They look really nice.

Yes, i already have speakers.

I would be using them as a zone 2 for music listening not at my computer.

well... with old stuff like this, they can look quite beat up before it becomes worrying to functionality.

i dont have a picture on hand to show how beat up my amplifier is, but aside from the occasional hitch it still works like a dream.

(i have no idea how old it is, but the company that made them disappeared in 1972)

You should start a YouTube channel reviewing the random crap you buy off Craigslist

Like a mini baby Z reviews.

That's not a bad idea...

And at the end of every video I could include a link to me selling the item (if I was selling it)

Didn't you mention this?

If you didn't catch that, that was sarcasm, as sound will always perform the same Weather it's music, movies, or porn.

There are no speakers optimized for porn.

Anyway those speakers are very old, You might ended up spending money restoring it and still not like the sound.

You are better looking at other speakers.

They definably sound better than my current Polk r15.

They are more full, with better low end (though that makes sense given they have a 8" woofer)

I will be using them for music and my surround system for games and such

You seem to get a lot of good finds. :) The R15 doesn't do well without a sub (they're not that different from the M10 model that replaced them).

Makers normally have to sacrifice efficiency if they want a small speaker to play low; this becomes a problem at lower price points (typically designed to be fed by weaker amps). The reduced BOM budget also prevents the maker from building a high excursion design, which limits displacement (thus making the design largely unsuitable for low frequency reproduction).

That being said, they are very good speakers for the price. The R30 / M20 speakers (tower variants) are actually quite good on their own when placed well (even without a sub), as long as they are not asked to play very loud (they can get driven out of the linear range). I was pleasantly surprised by those budget tower twins.

I assumed the t15 replaced them as they look identical.

Yeah, I have a sub, but not a good one

I also got the r15 cheap when I got them, 40$/pair in great condition, looked new
