Corsair RMi or HXi?

Jacktastic-Mofo
Go to solution Solved by quan289,

I don't want any other recommendations for PSU's I have my reasons for liking these. I'm simply asking which should I pick up a RM750i for about 130 or a HX750i for about 150?

The HXi and the RMi series are essentially based on the same custom platform from CWT. Even though the HXi does offer better efficiency and should be placed higher than the RMi series, during the ~9 month time differences in release, Corsair / CWT decided to work on the platform more and improved on it in some areas (increase hold up time, better voltage regulation, ripple suppression, transient loads, etc). Here's a review on the 1000w version : http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Corsair/RM1000i/1.html

Since the RMi series is cheaper, has a 7 year warranty, utilized Corsair Link as well, I would go that over the HXi.

Probably RMi, save yourself a few bucks, and the color scheme is more universal.

looks are very subjective, and support/warranty depends a lot on the region.

WHY WHY

(RMi)

RMi is a great PSU....

Looks, support, warranty, compatibility.

RMi is not bad but every Corsair PSU is overpriced. As for support and warranty you'll find Seasonic/Antec/EVGA have great support. As for compatibility Corsair PSUs are not any more compatible with systems than any other PSU. EVGA has just as many custom cable options as Corsair, both first and third party.

Brand bias should be a reportable offense. I get it, there's a bit of the Apple mentality here. "I want the name-brand one even if it costs more." The difference though, is that Corsair provides quality products, their support is great, they interact with the community, and they are a big name in the tech world. "Check, check and check." You'll respond, pointing out that you could swap Corsair for EVGA here and save money, sure. However, the customer would not be buying the product with the peace of mind knowing it will almost certainly function and last them years. People should not be bashed for this.

Custom Cables from CableMod and such.

For compatibility read above ^ and the warranty on the RMi and HXi are seven years long which is awesome. I've also had great experiences with Corsair's customer support in the past.

You can stop now. This man has his mind set and let him chose what he wants to. Don't get me wrong though, you do bring up valid points. But OP specifically said no other PSU recommendations.
