Mr troll.

Wait if he owns a 290x Lighting the only possible way to make that card have issues is overvolting this piss out of it and even then its tough to kill it or even make it have issues. I've dumped 1.45v through mine on air and its still running like new and has hit no degradation.

The psu is and evga supernova. What that dude about psu said is making me think about it

I was using a Seasonix X-series 750w 80+gold (still am).

I shutdown my system every night because I don't trust my water cooler that much. Occasionally when I went to start up in the morning, the video playback would be laggy (not just videos and games, but any actual movement on the screen) and any and all sound would be HORRIFYINGLY distorted and static-y. I RMA'd my GTX 660 to EVGA, they sent me a brand new one. Same problem. Contacted them again, they said my PSU must be fluctuating in the power it was delivering to the GPU, causing the issue. I would have to restart multiple times to get it to stop.

I didn't feel like replacing the PSU, and couldn't test it myself because I didn't have a multi-meter. So I ended up just getting a new GPU, ASUS Strix 970. I've occasionally had BSOD's from overclocking and playing modded skyrim, but the stuttery video playback accompanied by GOD AWFUL sound, has never occurred again.

But you said you were never buying AMD again, you would never have made this thread if your 290x is solid as a rock, you would have mentioned it too, or you would have used common sense and just think you got unlucky.

The 300 series are truly not that much of difference. The difference like between the 960 and 380 are 3 watts under load. Which is what, a few pennies a year?

970-390 under load I believe is 40watts which is what, $5 a year? Little more less depending on how much you pay.

Have you done the simplest of things and by that I mean properly configured everything? Fresh drivers via DDU, power connectors, motherboard bios?

3 cards in a row with the same problem?

Yeah no, you are probably using your integrated graphics without realizing it

Either that, or your PCIe slot is full of gunk

asus, all 3 of them

and for your question.Because is frustrating! On asus's website it says that updating the bios and using a certain driver it will fix the issue so clearly they know about it.If you google it you will see a lot of people have this issue

then go for broke and try one on eBay. You'll probably have better luck. You can't just be like "oh, these cards all broke on me, AMD completely sucks". That makes no sense. You could have just gotten unlucky. Shit happens.

It's okay, you'll switch back when Async compute becomes a thing in games.
