Dell XPS 12 Refresh Specifications Leak

snowComet

It seems update for the XPS 12 is coming. According to the latest leak from a German tech site "Giga", Dell will soon update XPS 12 with a different form factor, higher resolution screen, and new port.

the new XPS 12

XPS 12 was known for its spinning screen, which could turn the ultrabook into a tablet with a flip of the screen. But according to the leaks from the German tech site "Giga", the new XPS 12 will be a 12" tablet with a keybaord dock, similar to the Surface Pro 3, and not a convertible ultrabook anymore.

Similar to the XPS 13, it seems the new XPS 12 will feature an Infinity Edge display with very narrow bezels, which means the tablet could be much smaller than other 12" tablet. Also the display will be a 4K IPS display (with touch). Together with a active stylus, backlit keyboard, Thunderbolt 3, 8MP main camera, 5MP front facing camera, and etc, it could be a strong competitor to the Surface Pro 3 (or even the rumored Surface Pro 4).

Unfortunately no info about other parts of the spec, like cpu, ram or ssd was leaked. But according to the leaked material, it seems it will be revealed in Oct. Thus I guess it will equipped with Skylake CPU, hopefully not the Core M cpus.

why is everyone making their own version of the surface? The thing that pisses me off about the surface is the kickstand at the back is basically useless if you try to use it on your legs. Hybrid tablets should be completely stable if you put it on your legs and not some mess that wiggles when you try and type an essay. imo the old design is better because of that.

Okay, I cant imagine how small this one is

First impressions on using a XPS 13, Damn thats small. *thats not what  she said*

I thought it would be bigger, I couldn't accurately put 13 inches in my mind, I honestly cant imagine 12.

inb4 "such a surface ripoff"

but yes, very interesting, and linus should REALLY "accidentially leave it out in the rain"

A "leave it out in the rain Resurrection" needs to be a key feature in LTT reviews now.

They could make a fake rain box so they are all the same :)

exactly, i got so sick of my surface pro's limited usability i went and got a conventional laptop with none of that bullshit hybrid hinge stuff. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

as you fail to see the slight differences.

obviously specs will be different, and the second picture on the right -to me- clearly indicated some form of hinge mechanism.

pointing out it'll be fine to use on a lap.

Point proven. i still think its stupid tier one manufacturers are still making tablets like this when windows 10 was to not be touchscreen focused and more for keyboard and mice users. A lack of io and a lackluster keyboard is way more than enough to turn people away from a computer that tries to be 2 in 1 and that's the problem. They try to be both and in the process they end up being limited in either ergonomics or usability.

win10 was actually meant to fix the issues desktop users had in W8, while still being appealing to tablet users.

The surface sorta started a design, much like the original iphone.

Looks great! And it appears they finally have themselves a proper 2 in 1 imo. Should be a great competitor with the Surface Pro 4 when they both are released.
